The girls are all pals, and end up talking abotu their love life, Kagome Higurashi's hopelessly in love with Sessumoaru/Mr Big. a world class millionaire playboy type that has issues with commitment but does love her back, she write a column in the Tokyo times, "Sex and the miko' detailing events that do and don't tell how lives going, about sex and her demon. She also falls hard for the good guy, Akitoki Hojo, who loves her unconditionally, she just doesn't love him as much as she loves Big, who she will forever run back to when he calls no matter how much it gves her joy or pain.
Kikyo Mine-Taishou, is a socialite type divorcee, from a snooty dr. Naraku [holds little play in this story], but falls hopelessly in love with the brash lawyer but lovable Inuyasha Taishou, they are trying for a baby, but she had issues with his bad habits.
Sango Tetsume a workaholic lawyer that it hard and tough tomboy type that pushes too hard on those she loves, but loves hard when she does, ends up preggo with her bf's baby, Miroku Kohaku, the two have an off again on again relationship before the end when they finally know they need each other.gives birth to baby boy Kohaku Tetsume.
Ayame Ooatsukai, is afraid of commitment like girls are scared of bugs, but it doesn't mean she doesn't love the boys, she's shameless when it comes to her hentai ways, but has only had two great loves that she has been able to allow herself to truly love, Bankotsu Mitsuhara and Kouga Takashi, the rest are just her play thing for the week or until she gets tired what ever comes first.
Jakotsu is just there for comic relief.
this is their story the story of their loves, heartaches, lives, their friendship. Its the story of those that revolve again her, The miko, ie everything is from Kags POV to the point. rated MA for mature audiences only, and will only be posted on Dokuga and AFF.net.
tell me what you think before i even get started writing it. would really like mature replies, and wouldn't mind an assistant writer to keep me on point, someone that has seen and likes the random drama-rific life that HBO's SitC/SatM will apply to. -r0o

Fanfic 24 Shades of Grey, the Two Faces of Kagome.
Prologue
What if the good girl wasn’t who she said she was, what if she wasn’t so innocent, what if it was all a lie, and maybe the spider hanyou wasn’t the one they should fear the most. Those were thoughts that he monk had been having for far longer then he would like to admit, there were times, when their angel of light seemed too much like an angel of death, and she walked a line so fine that even they knew not which side she stood for. Was it possible for their little Kagome to be evil? To harbor such hate and revulsion to their plight that she would lead them to their doom? He didn’t want to think so but there were times, when she was too grey, unable to be so dark that she was black, unable to be so pure that she was white, but perfectly suited to be one that lived in the grey, one that was neither shimmer of light, or shade of darkness.
It was a year ago that he had started to notice the changes, it was raining when she went missing, making her scent hard to trace, so hard in fact that they could not find her tracks even in the mud.
Flashback…
The tachi had been talking while she was at her bath, washing away the proof that they had battled that day hard and long. Bathing her soft skin from the blood of her companions she had come back to hearing them calling her out. ‘Weak.’ was the voice of the monk, ‘Coward.’ was the word the kit used, ‘Pathetic‘ was what the slayer had said, but worst of all was the hanyou, ‘Worthless.’ She wondered that moment how many times had they said such things, how many times had they thought them, and never said a word to her. She was a woman of a peaceful future where demons, oni’s, hanyou’s, and mystic jewels that caused time travel were nothing but myths, a thing of the past. She who was pulled into a labyrinth of legend, she had faired as best she could, or as best as she thought she could without revealing her true self and nature. There were things though, things they didn’t know, things she didn’t want to do ever again, but it seemed that she had learned these things for a reason. And it seemed that what ever her reason for putting that life behind her it was brought back in full force, she would have to go home for a bit, but when she returned they would never say such things again. They would rue the day that they had forced her hand.
She grew angry though, what right did they have to say such things, who were they to say that she didn’t give all, this was their life, not her own, she was both blessed and cursed with the protection of the jewel and they had all sought it for their own greed. There was only one she knew that wanted nothing to do with the magical bauble, Sesshomaru, her only true ally and she could not even count that, for when he was with her, he was just as deadly as any other, so she was alone here. But that was fine. She didn’t bother going back to them that day, didn’t bother to say goodbye, didn’t even look back. The weather had seemed to take on her turbulent dark mood, as gale force winds picked up billowing dark thunderous grey storm clouds. Finding herself in a clearing, the skies opened upon her, water falling like so many part of her life washing it away. Her long thick hair plastered to her body, her white shirt sticking to her skin, allowing her lacy bra to show through. Her ears were sticking out, her cheeks and nose flushed from anger. Her chest heaving as she tried impossibly to calm herself from the hurt, rejection, anger that swirled so hideously in her aura. She preferred to be a being of light, but it was becoming obvious that she was not balanced as she was, that she would have to embrace her darkness to correct her life. Something had to give, something had to break, she couldn’t be one or the other, both was what she was born to be. They had not appreciate this one, and she was unwilling to become the other, so she would become both, and they would have to deal with what they had created, glimmer and shade would be reborn again, Kami have mercy on them, she thought as she made her way to the bone eaters well.
End flashback…
He had felt her change more then he had seen it, though her once round eyes were now narrowed, tapered with something that was not at all pure, they looked like something that was dark and some how light. She didn’t smile as much, and she went off on her own for hours on end, did not respond to any of them, and had often ignored them all. Gone was the childish innocent girl that had fallen down the well, in her place this woman who was still pure but some how not, who was innocent and yet tarnished. She was an oxymoronic being, who no longer spoke unless needed to, and often times, he had wondered if she even needed them anymore.
Many times she would leave for hours, days even if she got a good amount of time without one of them, he hadn’t seen the jewel in some time and that worried him. But some days he could feel it more, as though she were collecting them on her own, as if it were growing. It was her quest really, and if she wanted to she could leave them all, he had figured out what had happened that day when she hadn’t come back to them so long ago. When they finally found her, she was already different, no longer wearing her futuristic garb, but something a kin to miko wear, and yet not. Her breasts nearly bared for the world, as her legs had once been before, but startlingly enough blades attached to her hip. She wore black hamakas, her white kimono top held in a band just below her breasts, which jutted out due to there size, the length of the kimono uncommon, designs, and symbols unknown to them, or anything that they asked about went unanswered. Her body held in leather armored corset, that was also black, and a black choker around her neck. Her hair had once flowed free like a midnight river, billowing in any way the wind took it, now held in a high pony tail that still danced in the breeze.
For the longest after she returned she hadn’t said a word to them, often he had only seen her feelings as she slept, silent tears and sobs raking her body, but if any attempted to comfort her she would only push them away. If looks were enough then they all knew to leave her alone, she had been the glue that held them, and now she simply was. She no longer tried for them, no longer opened up, they had broken something so pure and tainted it with their selfish frustrations. They had tried to apologize, and she had not even batted a lash, turning away and letting their words wash away in the breeze, ‘Hn.‘ was all she had said, she was cold now, no longer the warm ray of life she had once been, no longer white, but becoming grey, ever darker and darker. There were times, times when she would come back to them though, small and trivial times when their Kagome would be there, but she would vanish again as soon as she came, leaving them to feel empty. They wanted to shake since into her, make her turn back into the one they loved, but they could not, they had learned the hard way that her blades were not for show, and that as clumsy as she had once seemed, she was indeed amply adept at using said weapons with lethal accuracy.
Part 1
Kagome stood on a branch in a tall tree looking out at the lands, she was at peace this night, at peace with the work around her, at peace in the waning darkness and the silent birth of a new day. She had left them once again, left them to whatever it is that they did when they were not around her, she didn’t care. She wanted the jewel so she could be done with it, she wanted the spider because he was simply put, her target, the one that held what she needed. Honestly at this point in the game she didn’t care if he lived or died, so long as she got the jewel that was fine. The spider hadn’t crossed her personally, he had only attempted to take the jewel. Once she had it back, he was no longer her concern. Once a while ago she wouldn’t have answered as such, she would have said that they, her tachi and herself would take him down, fight the good fight, but it was foolish for her to attempt to be so pure, for what was light at all if there was no darkness, it was void, empty. Those days were in the past now, her mother had warned her, told her that she couldn’t be a being of light, that it was impossible to be a being a light when there was even a hint of darkness, had told her that she should be herself, and that everything would be fine if only she were herself. She had insisted that she would prove her mother wrong, Sayuri had knowingly given her daughter a shake of her head and a bitter smile, she knew, Kagome would find out the hard way.
Her memories came back to that day, she had been drenched when she climbed out of the well, staggered up the stairs, and walked out into the daylight. Her mood and aura quickly effecting the world around her brining a sudden downpour, she hadn’t remembered how long she’d been in the courtyard when the front door to her home opened and her mother came out to her. Kagome’s face told her everything she needed to know, and she knew if she could time travel her tachi would have the wrath of a mother scorned to deal with, no one messed with Higurashi Sayuri’s young and lived to tell about it. It was days like this that Sayuri cursed that she had fallen in love with Toshiro, her late husband had given her two beautiful children, but his latent spiritual powers had effected their eldest in ways even he couldn’t have known. Her daughters body had been invaded by a cursed jewel and dead spirit of one long since past from this world, pulled into a world where a Halfling, even a powerful one like Kagome could and would be killed just because her father was mortal, and her powers were hard to keep in check. Where her brothers developed with ease, Kagome’s were like a raging inferno that was barely stable, at least when she attempted to be so very pure.
To Sayuri t didn’t matter what the kami thought her daughter was supposed to do, it didn’t matter that there were two hanyou out there that had ruined her daughters happiness, though she would deal that when the time came about. What mattered to her was that those who were supposed to protect her daughter, both physically and mentally had not done so, had allowed her to come home nearly dead to her, her spirit nearly broken. When Sayuri fixed this, she knew the next time the dog hanyou came to the future she would make sure that he knew what darkness truly was, squinting her eyes in anger the elder female figurate pulled her daughter into a tight embrace and flared her daunting aura around her only and always baby girl. Kagome remembered that her had rebuilt her confidence, reformed her soul to a point of fortification that none would be able to do such things to her daughter again, and the Kagome that came back to them was not the girl that had fallen down the well all those months ago.
The sun had risen and hung low in the sky when she had her musings interrupted by her both blades, Tengokushi, and Jigokushi hummed happily, which meant that a being of indifference was coming closer to her proximity, they hummed only for those who held great power, and for them to shake their sheaths this much meant that Sesshomaru was near, more precisely she was in a better ability to see Rin. Despite all that had happened in the world around her, Rin was one being of light that Kagome adored to no end, though dark things had touched her delicate life force, she had risen above the darkness and embraced the light. Kagome could respect her for this so much more then those who cowered in fear of the glimmer or of shade. Looking down she noticed that her tree was rather tall, oddly she didn’t even remember climbing so high the night before, she had just wanted to be closer to the sky, to the stars and the more, to feel the breeze upon her cheeks and weaving in her hair. Kagome sighed and did the unthinkable for a human body, she jumped, her body arched into the jump, gravity taking her fast, the air rushing and growling passed her ears roaring as she went, but all to quickly the grand came, landing in a tight crotch the miko stood and stretched her body out before fanning her aura out in search of the ever stoic being known as Sesshomaru, other wise known as Rin’s beacon.

seriously here, i have a wonderful pal in fanfiction, and i just found that her break was due to a ff harpy who has never taken the time of day to even attempt to write. I'm upset about this, but i cant really do much to stop the situation, I just hope karma comes back to bite the review nazi in the ass. okay i feel better now.

S/K pairing, Mature content, charac. bashing, LITERALLY. this one's mean folks. r0o lies not. *nods*
okay so my idea behind this one was basically that i wanted to change kags into a demon for no good reason other then i want that to happen, its the how and why, maybe the when thats the point. So i didn't get that far but after this bit below the story opens up to find Kags being forced to kill a demoness against her will a demoness that some how held the last few. the demoness in her last breaths tells Kags her story. that a demon long ago had saved one of the gods most prized miko villages, for no reason other then they needed saving, they couldn't repay him, so they asked the gods for help. in a rare moment for the gods they told the village head miko that one among them would be born that would love this male unconditionally, that she would be his prefect desire in every way, but that he would have to wait for her to be born, and mature before he could take her. And during that time he would have to maintain his protection on the village and there after so long as his perfect mate was his the village was his to protect.
well the demon died, but the curse/blessing depending on how you looked at it last long past his death, no mater what happened to the demoness she could not die. The demoness had come to love her mate over time, and longed to be in the afterlife with him. after crying out to the gods, she was advised that the only way she could die, was that if a pure miko as she had been once long ago took her place. The reason she, Kagome had to kill her is because the demoness' needed her for there were no miko's pure enough to take on the blessing. once the curse was in place Kags would change over the corse of a year to become worthy someone's perfect mate. The change itself taking a full year to occur was at least 365 orgasms, or at least 1 a day, possibly more but no less, brought on by the cursed ones[ kags] perfect mate, his image would dance in her head forcing her to un-natrual highs. If he were close regardless of the situation his proximity would force them more, and if he were to help then the change happened faster.
During that time he would also think abotu her, her blessing forcing his need to find a mate, her specifically.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
So idea in mind, this was the first chapter, it was made a point to show how much Kags has changed, and start her journey to this change. R&R - r0o o yeah this one's kinda mean to you Inu fans. i think its actually amazing but thats just me.
1. Some things just Shatter
“Five years!” the raven haired beauty of the night argued with herself as though the world around her was not teeming with life and alive around her. “Five wonderful horrible bloody damn years, and STILL he compares me to her even when she‘s dead AGAIN. STILL he yells and curses, that miserable dog eared moronic twit of a half-breed!!” she seethed as she stomped heavily through thick foliage of the woods that Kagome currently was in. Her mind played over the days events that had changed her so, one by one the images voices and events of that day played in her mind like a film.
They were searching, always searching for the shards, it had been three years since Naraku had been defeated, three years in which she actually finished middle school and flew through high school thanks to online tests at home and regular comprehension exams. Three years since Inuyasha’s windscar hit and re-shattered the jewel again. Sure Kagome was trained now, sure she was probably the most powerful miko to walk the lands of Japan, but she had not expected this to last past that final battle. Oh how she loathed the dog boy that day. His “Feh!’s” and “Keh!’s”, huffing and puffing like a the absolute selfish jerk he was.
Flashback to the day of the battle, three years before…
Kagome had literally snapped, her group, or at least all in her group save the hanyou, had wondered when that reserve of sympathy, joy of life, or maybe just her patience would break. All of them had at one time or another lost it with the hanyou but their miko. The monk had thought it was because she constantly got to ‘sit’ him, but the slayer knew better, she sometimes wondered what god Kagome’s family had once involved themselves with to gain such raw unnerving patience; possible there was some youkai type in Kagome’s blood that allowed his words and taunts to roll of her back as though not a word had ever been said. To say they were shocked when she finally snapped was an understatement.
The battle had been fought, many were lost both on the side of justice or righteousness, and the side of evil. The dark hanyou had been dealt with even his spawns were killed off. It had been Sesshoamru’s and Kagome’s final attack that killed him, which freed the monk of his wind tunnel making clean up a bit hard. The western lord had only stayed long enough to insure Naraku would not live and had vanished afterwards, the wolves were not around but they all know they were off tending to their wounds. Kagome herself had spun on her heels to aid the badly wounded huntress and the monk when she heard the cry. “WINDSCAR!” the golden wind-rip was sent into the remains of the spider demon, frying everything it came into contact with when she saw the bright luminous flashes of a small explosion in the sky. She and the monk’s eyes widened in both horror and confusion. While even the huntress’ face paled at the feeling that licked her skin.
“Well Naraku’s body’s all cleaned up. Now Kagome where’s the jewel I want my wish!” he said cockily as he let his fathers fang fall haphazardly on his shoulder. Silence filled the air as it grew heavy and thick, Miroku though pained and bleeding grabbed for both Shippo and Kirara as his staff impaled the ground pulling a barrier around them all for protection, happy that Sango was completely behind him. Her eyes had glassed over, the muddy blue pressed hard impacting the rims of her now pale blue iris’, her glossy onyx mane of hair began to float on spiritual winds. Slowly, and methodically Kagome stood, glancing just barley over her shoulder to look at him, his stance showed he was oddly proud of what he’d done, her motions were slow as though some part of her was actually trying to stop herself from saying it. Her brows arched high, twitching, and indignantly angry the likes of which none had ever seen upon her usually angelic face. Her fist clenched tight so her knuckles turned white and one could see the stretched skin above bone so well, blood dripping from them where dull nails dug deeply into slightly bow worn callous hands.
“SSSSSSSSSSSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” she roared in an inhuman bellow that ripped her throat raw, while spiritual power swirled wildly around her in air-rips reaching the heavens. The poor hanyou’s impact so hard that miles around them the earth shook from his body slamming into the helpless earth. Even from his distance away from their group the Lord of the West wondered what the hell could have just happened, he knew that word, though the voice didn’t really sound right, he knew that aura as well, but the power behind it also did not feel right either, it was then that he noticed something shinny land upon the ground, something his ward too saw, she in her usual childish air whirled over to it, picking the shinning object up and brought it to him.
“Lord Sesshomaru! Its so pretty, can Rin have it?” placing the object in question in his palm. Shock and anger quickly found its way in him as he recognized the shinnying shard of the shikon jewel for what it was. He wasted no time even talking to Jaken, as he picked Rin up, much to her delight and raced back to where he’d left his pathetic half-brother, and his sad little pack. Kagome felt a shard of the jewel moving with unrealistic speed, in a moved that both shocked an amazed the conscious members of her group her bow was pull and notched with an arrow in the blink of an eye, her determination showed as her scowl grew and her anger welled up. The tip of the arrow would normally held just some of her powers, but in that moment that pure rush of anger the tip burned with an intensity that was capable of blinding one if they looked upon it.
She couldn’t see, Inuyasha’s near earth shattering impact had left a slight mushroom cloud of dust in the air, leaving her blind to the world around her. But she could see the jewel as thought it were as clear as day, she could see the immense power so near it, and had she been in her right state of mind she would have known it was Sesshomaru, but she couldn’t see him physically, and she didn’t know. So with little to go on she released the arrow, and it held fast to its mark. Sesshoamru had never felt, in his long life a power so grand and raw, it burned the air around him and he knew in this moment he would not make it, for a moment another creature had instilled fear upon him, he didn’t know if his father’s fang nor his own had the ability to save him, he had a reason to live, someone to protect, what a piss-poor life he had led if this was to be its end.
Rin though small and unknown in many ways of the world felt her lords sword pulse the ever curious child bent down in his hold to grasp the blade‘s hilt, the moment those small fingers touched Tensaiga, the sword roared to life in defense of this fight, fed by the love of the one who welded it, and the love of a child for her lord, a great barrier rose just in time to stop the arrow. Its tip blinding, spun in place as its power released itself upon the barrier, wave after rippling wave crashed upon Tensaiga’s protection as it buckled violently under the weight of such an attack, and when it seemed as though neither would fall, finally the arrow slowed and hit earth. When the air cleared, golden eyes narrowed upon the raven haired priestess, while silvery pale blue did the same to him. “What is the meaning of this miko?” came his deep baritone voice.
Kagome seemed to be pulled from her shock by his voice, “What?” she bit out, only knowing that she was angry, but not allowing herself to understand or remember why. Sesshomaru was on her in a moment, in a move so very emotional and unlike himself, he had the onna beneath him, his arms strangling the life out of her. Had he been in his right mind he wouldn’t have done this, his light whip was more then enough to kill her, but his daughter could have been killed in something like that attack of hers, the jyaki and reiatsu crashing against one another would have done that to a child so small.
“I. Said. What. Is. The. Meaning. Of. This?” he said pulling out the shard of the jewel as he said the final word. As if Kagome had no three hundred pound youkai dog lord upon her, no one taking her precious air away her eyes widened while the pupils of her contracted as she took in the sight of the shining pink shard of the shikon jewel. And just like that her furious anger was back with a vengeance, along with the memory from just moments ago, Kami knows where the strength, speed and agility came from but she had literally pushed Sesshomaru off of her sending him flying as she did. She sprang from her spot to the crater she knew the hanyou lay in, the air thickening sickly with her aura as she got nearer to her target. Throwing herself down hard upon him so that she was straddling his waist, she turned him over to face her alarmingly fast.
“Bitch….” was all Inuaysha got out as a tiny angry fist came flying into his face. It was not soft, it was not delicate, it was not a flower pressing upon the world the weight of her anger, it was an alarmingly powerful right hook, and then a left, followed by another right. Sesshomaru was again shocked by the tiny woman, when the hell did she get this power, he asked himself, as he stood and walked over to the edge of the crater that the onna, and his brother were in he watched; soon he was joined at the edge by the monk and the slayer who held both children away from the view while Kirara sat and watched this even unfold.
Long minutes later Kagome was covered in his blood, and still her anger boiled, her aura licked those who were around with demonic ancestry, rage welling with alarming rates in a human. Crashing fist after crashing fist pumped into the dog hanyou as the sound of her blood in her ears pumped her to move forward to continue. The sound of either the bones in her hand or the bones in Inuyasha’s head crashed together, it was sickening to the human ear, even worse on the youkai, and yet they watched as the 110 pound futuristic miko leveled angry punch after angry punch. Kagome could hardly tell where her blood started and his ended, and when she could finally throw no more punches she stilled. Throwing her head back and screaming all of her self out in an almost inhuman sounding wail of angry sorrow, her breath ragged, her chest heaving her heavy breast up and down as she looked at some unknown force, fighting some unknown will to stop from killing him, as her body lost its energy.
She felt so hot, her skin boiling even, Kagome could feel the slick hot life giving liquid flowing over her person and down her body, her eyes almost hooded and yet seeing the unseen. Kagome knew some how that her once white top was now covered in blood, and clinging heavily to her heaving chest, she felt free for a moment as she tried to pull in her anger in, she wanted nothing more then to throw her fists into his face until there was nothing left. Two years wasted, and now at seventeen what would happen, she thought. She felt sadly happy that she had finished high school with a GED, she wondered now how long it would take to pull it back together, to regain her life again, to collect what was once again complete that now was not. She wondered if they would have another Naraku to deal with, one stronger and more powerful to handle, she cringed at that thought.
Inuyasha had never been beaten so thusly before, not even by Sesshoamru, who had on more then one occasion actually left a hole in his stomach, but it had been Kagome doing the trashing. Spitting blood from his mouth, the spatter hit her legs, she didn’t flinch, nor did she react as she stood, her knees covered in blood that had both pooled there as well as open gashes from throwing herself down, turning her back to him, and still covered in their mixed blood Kagome’s somewhat cold angry eyes closed as she tried to calm her raging nerves from the grim reality. The reality that was the fact that the jewel was again shattered, when she heard the one name she never wanted in her short life to hear again, “Kikyo would have never…” Had she been a demon she would have just hit full form, the angry ribbons of spiritual power threw themselves out into the world, looking like smooth electricity coming off her body as she turned and looked upon him. Kagome didn’t even know her body was in motion, as she flipped around and brought her foot crashing down upon Inuyasha’s face.
Sesshomaru was down upon her before she could land another blow, his arms locking hers as she fought him for release, she really wanted to kill Inuyasha right now. “You will release me. NOW.” she stated in a far too calm voice, one that did not match her murderous aura. She stilled in his arms as she heard.
“I. Will. Not. His life is mine!” he grit out against her ear, the sound of his deep voice sending mixed messages to her brain as the heat caressed the skin on her fevered neck.
“He shattered the jewel again….. The fool. “ she bit out softly as tears welled in her eyes, rolling down her flushed cheeks and she cried, which turned into weeping and finally all outs body racking sobs. Releasing her softly she crumpled to the ground in a slightly bloody heap at Sesshomaru‘s feet, he watched her as sobs racked her body, and he could find no fault for her well placed anger. She cried that day until she could literally cry no more, Sesshomaru had plucked her up and brought her to Au-Un and his camp with Rin, followed by the monk, the kit, and the slayer along with the fire cat and the almost dead hanyou. Kagome cried herself to sleep, and she cried when she woke, she cried until there were no more tears. Her tears were lost to two years, to Sango’s younger brother and her dead village, lost tears for Miroku’s lost time, her tears were lost to the wolves and to those who could not fight their fate, to Kagura and Kanna, her tears were even for Kikyo, and her own family on the other side of the well, for the life she had put on hold to finish this, one thing her tears were not for, were for Inuyasha.
She had cracked that day, and the mask she wore had broken completely. Sesshomaru had never thought that her mask was one of laughter, smiles and kindness, while his was of indifference, but he truly saw her that day, not for inuyasha’s wench, or the miko of the shikon jewel, not even the onna who had shot at him one more then one occasion or for the female that pulled his fathers fang. That day he had seen the strong woman she truly had become, the woman who’s heart had been smashed and broken, who had pushed herself so hard and miraculously that her only reaction was righteous anger or sorrowful tears, who’s anger had been held for far too long, no he couldn’t blame her for nearly killing what was his, and in some small way he almost pitied her fate, he was saddened by the fact that she would once again have to start over again.
Kagome woke before any, and in the middle of the night she left, and did not look back, her group had separated from Sesshomaru the next morning, after finding a note, ‘I’ll be back - K’ they left with the still nearly dead hanyou for Keade‘s village, while Sesshomaru went to find the onna. It was late afternoon when he found her in the mitts of battle. Wielding only a dagger her bows and arrows, she slew demons with ease, finally turning to see him. Kagome hands were still bound for healing from the previous day, she said no words as she collected the five shared jewel shards that the demons had before she arrived, adding it to what looked like two others that she had gotten before he had arrived. He was impressed. Cool slightly hooded pale blue eyes look upon calculating gold. “Miko, I was not aware you knew how to, handle yourself.” he stated. Her lips firmed into a line before she calmed herself and replied.
“Beings here see what they want to see. The fool saw an ex lover and a weakling, the monk so an ass to grope and a sweet girl, the slayer saw a sister and friend, the kit….a mother, all saw someone they wanted to protect. As it is I’m not fond of fighting or killing, and though I may look as though I can’t harm a rabbit with a broken leg without shedding tears, I was raised a Shinto miko, and have learned much from both my father a priest, my mother a miko, and grandfather the head priest at our family’s shrine before I ever graced this place with my presence. So yes, Sesshomaru-sama, I am accustom to ‘handling myself,’ I’m just not fond of doing it.” she replied dryly. No one, absolutely no one could speak to him like that, but he allowed it after seeing the many things this female could do. Without a word she left heading back to Keade’s village.
They would meet again later in weeks, where Kagome would give both he, Sesshomaru, and Sango small pieces of her soul. She had lived for a year without a piece of her soul while it remained in Kikyo, a piece that never returned to begin with, so two more were hardly anything to stop her current moment. Her old group as well as the silent partnership she had formed with the demon lord had come to an understanding, get the jewels as fast as we can, they didn’t want another Naraku to deal with. This, Kagome was determined not to allow it. Though now she had a better understanding of the jewel, and of its properties, how to feel it. She actually became someone like a general of sorts, seeking out the closest shard, hunting them relentlessly and all had been found with much quicker ease then they had before. Inuyasha, they realized had been a large contributor to their delay, despite the fact that he had always been the one pushing so hard to finish the quest.
The groups had left him to heal from Kagome’s assault, and she refused to allow him near her again, should she find herself unable to hold back, she didn’t want to find herself on the business end of Sesshomaru’s sword because she killed what was his.
Sango and Sesshomaru found it odd, though neither said a word to any other, the small piece of Kagome’s soul allowed them to feel out the jewel shards and actually give them the gift to see it in the beasts that assumed they could have a power that was not theirs. The miko’s soul tingled every time the two of them neared the cursed object, and most often it tingled for them when the others found something as well, often they all met to give the shards over to Kagome, and finally after three years more [for Sango at least], brining her to her current pain in the ass day, all the shards were found but five. Sesshomaru had only assisted to the point that the jewel was more then half complete, ensuring that no one like Naraku could fall upon its power again, which had only been a year. He had to admit the miko had changed over that time, she was still sweet and kind and her aura still happy and bright, but the weakling that he had once known was gone. The woman in her place a fierce warrior.
2. The Five Shards, Curse or Blessing?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
chapter two is where i tell the other demoness' story, the long summary at the top ^^
okay so my idea behind this one was basically that i wanted to change kags into a demon for no good reason other then i want that to happen, its the how and why, maybe the when thats the point.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
So idea in mind, this was the first chapter, it was made a point to show how much Kags has changed, and start her journey to this change. R&R - r0o o yeah this one's kinda mean to you Inu fans. i think its actually amazing but thats just me.
1. Some things just Shatter
“Five years!” the raven haired beauty of the night argued with herself as though the world around her was not teeming with life and alive around her. “Five wonderful horrible bloody damn years, and STILL he compares me to her even when she‘s dead AGAIN. STILL he yells and curses, that miserable dog eared moronic twit of a half-breed!!” she seethed as she stomped heavily through thick foliage of the woods that Kagome currently was in. When the air cleared, golden eyes narrowed upon the raven haired priestess, while silvery pale blue did the same to him. “What is the meaning of this miko?” came his deep baritone voice.
Kagome seemed to be pulled from her shock by his voice, “What?” she bit out, only knowing that she was angry, but not allowing herself to understand or remember why. She had cracked that day, and the mask she wore had broken completely. Sesshomaru had never thought that her mask was one of laughter, smiles and kindness, while his was of indifference, but he truly saw her that day, not for inuyasha’s wench, or the miko of the shikon jewel, not even the onna who had shot at him one more then one occasion or for the female that pulled his fathers fang. That day he had seen the strong woman she truly had become, the woman who’s heart had been smashed and broken, who had pushed herself so hard and miraculously that her only reaction was righteous anger or sorrowful tears, who’s anger had been held for far too long, no he couldn’t blame her for nearly killing what was his, and in some small way he almost pitied her fate, he was saddened by the fact that she would once again have to start over again.
Kagome woke before any, and in the middle of the night she left, and did not look back, her group had separated from Sesshomaru the next morning, after finding a note, ‘I’ll be back - K’ they left with the still nearly dead hanyou for Keade‘s village, while Sesshomaru went to find the onna. It was late afternoon when he found her in the mitts of battle. Wielding only a dagger her bows and arrows, she slew demons with ease, finally turning to see him. Kagome hands were still bound for healing from the previous day, she said no words as she collected the five shared jewel shards that the demons had before she arrived, adding it to what looked like two others that she had gotten before he had arrived. He was impressed. Cool slightly hooded pale blue eyes look upon calculating gold. “Miko, I was not aware you knew how to, handle yourself.” he stated. Her lips firmed into a line before she calmed herself and replied.
“Beings here see what they want to see. The fool saw an ex lover and a weakling, the monk so an ass to grope and a sweet girl, the slayer saw a sister and friend, the kit….a mother, all saw someone they wanted to protect. As it is I’m not fond of fighting or killing, and though I may look as though I can’t harm a rabbit with a broken leg without shedding tears, I was raised a Shinto miko, and have learned much from both my father a priest, my mother a miko, and grandfather the head priest at our family’s shrine before I ever graced this place with my presence. So yes, Sesshomaru-sama, I am accustom to ‘handling myself,’ I’m just not fond of doing it.” she replied dryly. No one, absolutely no one could speak to him like that, but he allowed it after seeing the many things this female could do. Without a word she left heading back to Keade’s village.
They would meet again later in weeks, where Kagome would give both he, Sesshomaru, and Sango small pieces of her soul. She had lived for a year without a piece of her soul while it remained in Kikyo, a piece that never returned to begin with, so two more were hardly anything to stop her current moment. Her old group as well as the silent partnership she had formed with the demon lord had come to an understanding, get the jewels as fast as we can, they didn’t want another Naraku to deal with. This, Kagome was determined not to allow it. Though now she had a better understanding of the jewel, and of its properties, how to feel it. She actually became someone like a general of sorts, seeking out the closest shard, hunting them relentlessly and all had been found with much quicker ease then they had before. Inuyasha, they realized had been a large contributor to their delay, despite the fact that he had always been the one pushing so hard to finish the quest.
The groups had left him to heal from Kagome’s assault, and she refused to allow him near her again, should she find herself unable to hold back, she didn’t want to find herself on the business end of Sesshomaru’s sword because she killed what was his.
Sango and Sesshomaru found it odd, though neither said a word to any other, the small piece of Kagome’s soul allowed them to feel out the jewel shards and actually give them the gift to see it in the beasts that assumed they could have a power that was not theirs. The miko’s soul tingled every time the two of them neared the cursed object, and most often it tingled for them when the others found something as well, often they all met to give the shards over to Kagome, and finally after three years more [for Sango at least], brining her to her current pain in the ass day, all the shards were found but five. Sesshomaru had only assisted to the point that the jewel was more then half complete, ensuring that no one like Naraku could fall upon its power again, which had only been a year. He had to admit the miko had changed over that time, she was still sweet and kind and her aura still happy and bright, but the weakling that he had once known was gone. The woman in her place a fierce warrior.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
Kagome sat at her vanity, taking one last look before her dinner with Hojo, gods how she hated this seemingly bi-annual events. It’d been years since they were considered a couple by their 3 similar friends, years since the Feudal Era, where she met a boy who was a dog, a man who was a lecture, a woman who was a exterminator, a little one…a fox who was a son, and most importantly the man she fell in love with. She’d come back afterwards, not by choice, god no, not by choice, the jewel had finished and found its way back into her chest, the seventeen year old had been completely at a loss then, now she was far more collected, she had to be. Rather then a four year college she went straight for a two year business degree, figuring it be easiest to do something that allowed her to stay at the shrine. She’d opened two businesses, one a yoga class in the morning, and a martial arts class in the evenings, all and all it was an easy life, and they were both things that helped her stay close to her family, remind her that she was in fact, savor of the world, shikon miko, not to mention it helped her stay in shape.
Adjusting the diamond wedding ring on her left hand ring finger, Kagome remembered the day her mother gave it to her, she’d come home from the supermarket feeling so out of place, she couldn’t just slap someone for looking at her, or making comments but still it unnerved her to no end that males fell over her body. Her mother had been sympathetic, and placed the band her father had given her mother some twenty years ago on her small finger with a smile. Saying that it was time she took it off, and that Kagome could make better use for it. The ring had been on her finger ever since, it had come in handy on more then one occasion, specially when it came to her meetings with Hojo. He insisted that they meet every once in a while to catch up, though she knew better, every few months they’d go out, he’d hit on her she’d turn him down and remind him that she was a married woman, flashing the ring her mother had given her years before.
Sighing Kagome looked at her watch before heading downstairs and kissed her family goodbye before slipping low heels on for the evening. They never met to far away, for emergencies, as well as the fact that she could always just fake a sickness and go home, how she hated meeting him like this, but she felt so obligated to him, even after paying him back for his help, she felt she owed him at least this. The ever gallant Hojo had been the one to assist with funding the bare simplistic of material for her businesses at first, but within the month he had spread the word and had her scheduled booked with lessons of both forms. He had actually gotten the word out and many people had come to the classes, even now she had too many students. Sighing as she made her way to bistro down the street. The place was quiet, and run by a friend of her mother’s so it made meeting here just that much easier.
Elsewhere…
The sun was setting as his airplane touched down in Tokyo for the first time in a little over twenty years, he’d missed his homeland and had come back for a while before again having to leave the land of his birth. Closing his laptop and standing once the plane came to a stop, a black Maybach sat waiting for him. His nearly seven foot frame ducked out of the plane and into the car, his cold tired voice instructing the driver to take the ‘scenic route’ home, the demon behind the wheal already knowing the route from heart, it had been the same route they traveled every time to arrived in Tokyo, a route that always brought them passed the tree his brother had once been pinned to.
Nights curtain had fallen over the electric city though thunderous clouds danced on the horizon as his car made its way passed the old shrine, the driver slowing like always to give the lord of the West a moment to look at something that had survived from the past. Golden eyes looked out the window to see a woman that looked far too familiar to be a fluke narrowed in suspicion; having the driver stop the tall demon made his way out of the car and up the shrine steps. A small woman with curl brown hair had been sweeping, the scent on the air too familiar to be wrong.
He cleared his baritone voice to try not to startle the female as she had her back to him. Sayuri Higurashi turned to look upon Sesshomaru, surprise didn’t show on her face, nor did her heart beat quicken when she saw the crests upon his face or the crescent moon on his brow, the signs that told her this man was her grandson’s father, a faint smile played on her lips as she wanted for the inevitable. “The shrine’s closed for the evening sir, we open at noon until five pm if you’d like to see the grounds, or pay respects.” she said politely.
Her words were heard but the demon lord was most interested in her lack of reaction to him, though his concealment spell was in place, his awesome height and coloring often made people gasp, so used to it, he was rather shocked to not receive it. “My apologies, but I was looking for someone, a girl, maybe seventeen years old, her name is Kagome.” he said waiting for some type of response, again getting little.
“You must be one of Kagome’s old school friends, she’s out to dinner with a friend tonight, could I tell her who called?” asked the elder Higurashi woman knowing perfectly well whom this male was, she didn’t know if she should be happy, or upset, where had he been for so long, it had been six years since she came back, and yet the father of her child had never showed, her daughters mate was lost to time she thought, and now here he stood before her. His aura though hidden was easy to feel, living with her grandson, and her children made aura’s far to easy to feel, hell she often wondered how one couldn’t feel aura’s like theirs.
“I see.” he offered the mother, of his mate. He didn’t know if he should be happy that he’d found her or pissed that she wasn’t here waiting for him, hell he didn’t know what to think. The last time he’d seen his mate had been the day of the final battle with the vile hanyou, they’d made love the night before, he remembered every moment as though it had just happened the night before. He had been her first, and swore he would be her last, and when it was all done, when they had finally won the good fight, she had touched a complete jewel and vanished in a wash of bright pinkish white light. Yes he had gone on a rampage, and lost himself to his beast for far longer then he, Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands she have ever.
His beast who’d been imprisoned for so long, silent, and deadly suddenly stirred. As it always had when he came to this shrine, but this time was different, this time, he would have his mate, if one could look within him they would see a great white hound, whose blood red eyes were slowly opening, as if awakening from some dark slumber. Sesshomaru’s nose sniffed and caught the slight hint of her lovely scent, in all this time, over five hundred years for him it was still mostly the same, smelling of orange blossoms in the rain, moonflowers one a full moon, and tea, and yet underlying that scent was his own masculine scent, his beast was pleased, how ever long it had been for her, she still smelled of him.
The tall figured bowed his head to her with a devilish smirk plastered on his face, Sayuri didn’t know if this was bad or good. She knew her daughter still loved this man, this demon lord, and yet if it had been returned where was he, why wasn’t he here for all of Kagome’s hard times, or even for the birth of his heir and son. She watched with feigned interest as he leap down the stairs, three and four at a time, while she turned sharply to go inside and call her daughter, and give her just a moments noticed. If the elder brother where anything like the young, Inuyasha, she thought sadly, then he’d be at the restaurant in minutes, Sayuri had no time to waste.
Elsewhere…
Kagome and Hojo had been at dinner for maybe an hour, their food had come, and they ate while chatting, though mostly Hojo just spoke, while she “oh really?”, “Do tell…” she loathed meeting with him. Kagome couldn’t help but wonder if he were some part wolf demon, though she could since no demonic aura coming from him, she could swear Hojo could give Kouga a run for his money. She smiled at the thought of her old friend, and wondered again not for the first time if any of her demon friends had lived to this day. Hojo of coarse thought she was just being entertained by his story, truly the guy was thick headed, she thought.
Kagome had finally started paying attention to the conversation, if you could call it that, when she felt her phone vibrate, “Oh, Hojo, I’m sorry.” she said while looking down for her purse, which had fallen on the floor under her chair spilling its contents. “My phones going off, It could be important. Do you mind if I take this?” she asked while pushing the spilled contents back into the purse.
“Oh sure Kagome.” he said with a waved hand an a smile. He loved her, Hojo had never wanted another girl in all his life, from the moment he’d met her even now, he wanted her, loved her, and would gladly make her his if she would only allow him. He wouldn’t lie if asked, he hated this man that had her heart, this man that had never been met. This mystery person who had swept into his Kagome’s life and ruined it, in his opinion, leaving her married and pregnant, and never coming back. Sure she had told him that her husband was in the military, and that he wasn’t allowed to tell her where he went, or what was going on… ‘for her safety‘, a lie, Hojo’s heart and mind screamed, thinking over what kind of man could leave his young pregnant wife for any reason, especially if it were Kagome.
His angry mental tirade had come to and end as he noticed Kagome’s frown. “Everything okay?” he asked cheerily, reminding Kagome much of a monk she once knew. Kagome sighed.
“My mother called from my house, she knows I’m out, so it must be something important, she never bothers unless its important, but right when I was going to answer it, it stopped ringing, do you mind if I call back just to check and make sure everything’s okay?” she asked, again Hojo smiled and said, ‘Sure.’ Kagome gave him a nervous smile, as he thought about the woman who sat across from him, she was everything a man could want, even now he could see her married to him, pregnant with his child while their older children played in their back yard, she was so motherly, and loving, in his musings he didn’t even noticed Kagome start dialing.
Elsewhere….
Sesshomaru could smell her scent getting stronger, every bit of him and his beast alive with want and need for their mate, their wonderful soft, lovely, long lost mate. Passing a small flower shop he went inside and bought a bouquet of Orange blossoms, her favorite, he mused as he left the spot and made his way to the restaurant, she was off at having dinner with her friend, she would be so surprised. He wondered what she would do, surly she would be happy, and then he could whisk her off and have his way with her until he tired, and they’d get to know each other all over again. He smiled genuinely at the thought of her heated flesh with his own, his arousal growing with ever step.
Kagome had literally just opened her clam phone when her mother’s voice rang through, a tad confused seeing as how she hadn’t dialed yet, she was just placing the ear piece to her head and felt two very important things. First, she felt his aura, while at the same time, she heard briefly from her mother, “Kagome, I just saw Shiro’s father, he’s on his way, Kagome?…Kagome?! KAG--” She didn’t turn around when she felt his aura lick her own in complete desire burning a heat into her body, nor did she notice anything as her cell phone slipped from her hand. Her breath hitched, as she slowly turned her shoulder to look at the front door.
There in a simple black suit, white button down shirt, and black tie with flowers in his hand stood her “Sesshomaru“ she whispered. Her eyes widened, drinking the sight of him, his once long hair was cut far shorter then the last time she had seen him, it wasn’t short or cropped but still long enough to tie in a small pony tail in the back, his bangs it seemed he had allowed to grow out to the same length, his eyes were still the same burning amber orbs they had once been and when they spotted her, she could feel the love, heat, desire and want he had for her. Her mating mark, which had been dormant since returning was alive, and feeding her his intensions. He casually swaggered over to her, every eye in the room upon him, and now her seeing as how she was the women he came for.
Hojo sat there watching as the phone dropped only to see her turn, hearing two things, one he had always wanted to hear from her, only he had wanted it to be over him, her breath hitched in the most seductive of ways. Next the name, the name of the most hated person he had never met, “Sesshomaru.” she had said breathily, almost in a moan. He watched as an impossibly tall figure came over to their table, he didn’t like him, he looked like a model, and what was with how he walked over here?, Hojo asked himself seething a bit from the situation at hand. He watched as their eyes met and locked, as her breathing became hot and heavy for this man who had caused her so much pain.
Sesshomaru took little notice of the male his mate was having dinner with, but he drank in the site of her, the scent, and the sound of his name rolling off her prefect lips. She wore a simple black dress, it had a scooped neckline, baring the tops of her shoulder and the juncture of her neck which also showed off the pale blue crescent moon set between to faint puncture wounds from long ago, his mark. The dress was form fitting to the nice wide way of her hips, were it flared out a bit so as not to hug her still ever long tanned legs. His smirk grew as she smiled happily at him, before biting her lips as if to not let herself believe the site of him were real. Kagome’s undoing though was when he said her name.
“Kagome.” Was all he got a chance to say as her body sprang from her seat, allowing the phone to hit the table un-noticed, where her purse now sat as well. Her lips met his as her eyes closed, and she happily devoured him, he was ever quick to respond to his demanding mate, it seemed that it didn’t matter how long she had waited she wanted him just as much. His hands slipped around her body, bringing the slow inferno that was his mate closer to his own raging volcano. It didn’t’ matter how long they kissed when they finally came out for air, all of the restaurant was watching them, Kagome blushed prettily, while Sesshomaru brushed off the bit of her gloss from his lips as he took her hand to leave. Kagome didn’t need to know where they were going only that he was here with her, she turned casually to grab her purse, when she saw Hojo. She stopped causing the Taiyoukai to notice the male for the first time since he got there.
“Oh my god, Hojo, I …” she was cut off by Hojo.
“Kagome, is this him?” was all he asked, while standing and placing his fisted hands in his jacket coat. She nodded before introducing them.
“Yes. Sesshomaru, this is an old friend of mine, Hojo. Hojo, this is, “She turned to look up at Sesshomaru face when she said it, “My husband, Sesshomaru.” While a bit taken back by the declaration, Sesshomaru was at least familiar with the term as it relates to mating, and human society, and doesn’t seemed at all bothered by it making Kagome happy. Neither estranged lovers noticing the falter in Hojo’s gaze. Truly he never thought the cad was coming back, but by the look and build of him, he did look like he could be in the military, though obviously Japanese, his uncharacteristically white hair and hazel eye color were unnerving. Though looking at the pair it was easy to see them as a couple as much as he didn’t want to admit it, they were exotic. Kagome’s dark completion, pale eyes, and strikingly onyx hair pulled together her look, while this man was the polar opposite.
“Nice to meet you.” bit out Hojo, though Sesshomaru could tell the male hated him, his scent reeked of it, a small smirk played on Sesshomaru’s pale lips as he brought Kagome into an embrace, her warm body flush against his. He could smell her arousal and wondered how long he’d have to stand here before he would have his mate again, it had been five hundred years since he’d had the pleasures of a female, his female. “Kagome didn’t know you were back in town, we wouldn’t have been out had she known.” Looking down at his mate he could see she was uncomfortable, but the male kept going. “What with your type of work, and all, she hasn’t known anything about your whereabouts. I’m glad your back so she won’t worry so much.” he said with a fake smile that doesn’t meet his eyes.
“I told Hojo a little bit about your job in the military, about how sometimes you have to leave with no notice or warning. And that sometimes, like now, I have no idea when you’ll be back.” glancing down at his mate, a smirk played on his lips, she was so very cunning and smart.
“You were worried?” Sesshomaru intoned, causing Kagome to blush like she had so many times the night he’d taken her. She lightly fit his chest with her hand before he smelt tears that soon he saw welling in her eyes.
“Of coarse I worried! I thought… I didn’t think I’d ever see you again. Its been so long Sesshou.” she said in a breathy whine while barring her face in his chest. His arms closed around her as he lean down and placed a gentle kiss on the top of her raven head.
“I am sorry, but I’ve retired from that particular endeavor, if you’ll have me, I’ll never leave your side again.” he stated as she looked up and his eyes locked with hers.
“Oh Sesshou.” she said breathlessly as she leaned up and captured his lips with her own passionately. The pair kissed for what seemed like forever as Hojo’s heart broke again, as it had when he found her to be married and with child that was not his own, and now he knew he’d never have her. His eyes were down cast when she looked back to him. “Hojo. Um, I hope you don’t mind, Is it okay if I go?” she asked shyly, though honestly Sesshomaru was just going to take her regardless what the male said he could smell her apprehension about leaving the male, knowing her, she wanted to make sure he was okay.
“Yeah Kagome, its fine, call me some time when you guys are caught up, we can all go out some time. You can even bring the little guy.” he said as Kagome smiled up at him before Sesshomaru began to pull her away, if he had to wait any longer the Taiyouki would surely pick her up throwing the woman over his shoulder and taking her when he got home.

1. The Summonses
Kagome sometimes wondered how she got herself into such odd moments in life; her life was not easy, she lived as the head miko of a forgotten shrine, where she protected those who needed protection from the current ruling youkai of the south. She was not however a miko, and all who lived their knew it, all who lived there were also all demons, hanyous, or humans that had children and mates that were either demon, hanyou, or human. The twenty or so individuals were led by their lady Kagome, and she for all her worth kept her people safe, it was the least she could do as she was the lost ruler of these lands, the un-known daughter of their great and terrible fallen lord, Shin. Sighing the demoness in hiding looked at the summonses scroll, the messenger was some type of cat youkai, and for all the spells she had placed around this area he could not see or feel an of the demonic aura that flowed so freely around her and her forgotten shrine.
Kagome scowled as read of the scroll, ‘this has to be a joke?’ she thought, “What would the Taiyoukai of the West want with me?” she asked in a deceptively calm voice, while handing the rolled parchment to her aunt, Sango.
“I am just the messenger,” stated the coal black neko youkai servant causing both females to narrow their eyes dangerously at him, if only he knew just what sat across from him looking so innocent was the Southern heir, and was by far a well trained warrior assassin. She could far too easily kill this male but then that would bring complications to all who lived under her protection, her aunt as well was just as skillfully trained, though she was hanyou, slightly slower for her human blood then her niece, the fact in no means made Sango any less of a threat. The messenger continued though, “From what I have heard the great and terrible Lord Sesshomaru is coming up on his six hundredth birthday, and thus must take a mate, he has attempted to find mates worthy of him, but all have fallen short in doing so. As I am aware, his mother has taken it upon herself to have a competition of sorts, who ever wins gains the prize.” He said somewhat slyly.
The scowl on Kagome’s face grew more at the idea, she didn’t need to be the mate of some willful taiyoukai, she was a willful taiyoukai, ‘how bothersome‘, she mused. “And if I refuse to show?” she asked the still bowing messenger.
“Solders are outside my lady, if you do not return with me by choice then you will be taken.” he stated, matter-o-factly, almost shivering and swallowing a hiss when he heard what sounded like a positively deadly sound, like two audible growls were headed his direction. “I understand your trepidation, my lady, but you must come, you’ve been invited.“ he stated as if that was the final statement, and yet he continued, “You have an hour, and you are allowed only two attendants.” To say the least, Kagome was pissed, this put a serious damper in her already detailed and busy plans for the time being, off handedly she wondered how long this would take, after all she had revenge to seek, people to kill in the middle of the night, children to train in battle, a shrine to protect, the list went on.
“I have to address those I leave behind. Lady Sango, I would like you and young Rin to accompany me on this venture.” Kagome stated while her aunt nodded. Sighing Kagome stood and bowed politely to the messenger, as he took his leave she cursed hotly under her breath, ‘and I was going after his second in command tonight, you‘ve gotten a bit of a revive Hakudoshi…Enjoy your time you blood sucking shit.’ she thought angrily while sweeping out of the hall she had met them in.
Kagome set out to look for the bat hanyou, her shrine and its grounds were lovely, though forgotten, then held many treasures, she sometimes wondered how any one could have forgotten this place, it had both cool running water as well as hot springs, ample forest near by for hunting and training the young, as well as the fact that it was high on a mountain plateau, with no way for one to sneak up behind, making it easily to defend. Thinking more about her ‘hidden palace’ as she liked to call it, there were a large system of caves and cavers with many underground springs that allowed for comfortable living for those in her care, she sighed knowing she would have to leave her oasis.
The wind picked up her movements as she walked around the grounds looking for the elusive hanyou, unlike normal miko’s, which she was not, her garb consisted of a long flowing coat like kimono that hung open, prayer beads hanging from one side to the other holding it on her form which conveniently concealed the demonic nature of her being. Finally finding her second in command after her own aunt, Kagome let out a sigh, “Shiori, I’ve got to attend some sort of gathering for the spoiled brat that runs the West.”
The bat hanyou had been with them possibly the longest of all who lived here, was like herself and her aunt, Shiori though innocent looking with her deeply tanned sun kissed skin, and vibrant lilac hair was just as dangerous as the two female inu that protected this place. They had trained her long ago, and in turn she had taught the others as well, “Will it be a long stay?” asked the sweet sounding voice that hide the true bitch she could be if pissed enough to show it.
“Hn. We have not been granted a time frame, considering the situation though, I would plan to continue as though we may never come back.” To say that Shiori was suppressed was an understatement, though like her mentors, Kagome-sama, and Sango-sama, she had owned her ability to react and only a stoic fact greeted the statement. Kagome began again, “We are taking Rin with us,… The lady of the Western lands seems to have it in her mind that a competition is needed to find her son a mate so that he can keep his thrown.” said Kagome rubbing the bridge of her nose in aggravation. “They have made an offer I cannot refuse,” at this Shiori raised a delicate brow in question. “Simply put I go of my own will or by force, and if it’ll save all in our little ‘forgotten palace’ the hardship, I will leave so that it remains safe. But I don’t put it passed them in a minute to take my life, the ‘contest’ is for a supposedly powerful male, and mate, making the winner a Lady. Truly bothersome.“ Kagome finished with a bit of a huff.
“And you have no interest in this male, seeing as you are a Lady.” entered Shiori with an amused glint in her eyes. Kagome huffed again and ran her fingers over her bangs, pushing them back revealing a somewhat small black 6 pointed star that was hollowed out to just reveal the edges, favoring the weight of the design at the bottom.
“Bothersome wench.” Kagome bit out with mirth, really though they were of no relation, Kagome always acted as though she were an older sister to both her cousin Rin, and Shiori, who looked to be about seventeen in human years. Kagome was only second oldest in their ‘family’, Sango had been mated to her uncle when she’d been born, though Kagome looked to be about nineteen in human years, her aunt looked to be about twenty-seven. Rin, her young cousin, looked to be about eight in human years. Kagome worried about taking her, but if Sango was coming it didn’t make since to leave one behind without the other. Neither would go without the other anyway, and Kagome would only go if Sango were with her, so Rin like it or not was coming as well.
“Standoffish brat.” replied Shiori as she pulled her friend and sister into an embrace. “Winner or not you had better come back, it gets too boring without you here.”
“Oh. My. God. Shiroi! Are you saying you’d miss me?” beamed Kagome in her most annoying playful voice as she bounced.
“That’s it, Go. Win. Stay. You irksome mutt.” Shiori bit out while holding back tears that wanted to desperately to fall.
“I’ll miss you too dear friend. Take care of them.” With that Kagome left to go find her aunt and cousin. The hour passed surprisingly fast as they made ready for this ludicrous competition, Rin wondered if she’d ever see this place again, it hadn’t been so long ago that she had been born, or at least it felt that way. This place their forgotten palace, was the only home she had ever known. Sango worried for her niece and her daughter, leaving little worry for herself, hanyous were not really accepted, but then it would be an interesting thing when they arrived at the western stronghold. The world would see a human miko, a brown hanyou, and a darker brown inu pup, what an odd picture they’d make indeed. Kagome on the other hand was plagued with thought, though not any showed on her face, she worried for her cousin, and her aunt, what was she bringing them into. She worried for her people and their safety, mostly she worried that her plans for revenge might be extinguished in a flurry of useless battle with whorish females. Sighing as Kagome and her little family got into the carriage heading west she could only hope for the best though she knew if she were in a pinch, she’d have to drop her mask of humanity and deal with the situation at hand.
~o~
The ride to the western strong hold was if anything uneventful so far, Kagome, like both the females of her family had only spoken to each other, after hiding such a secret for so long it wasn’t exactly easy to readily open up to anyone new. Kagome though had spoken with the messenger on a few occasions, it seemed that she was the last contestant to arrive, making her that much more wary of this whole thing. If they were waiting on her, just what would she be doing when she got there, annoyed farther, Kagome decided that every time she talked to the neko youkai, she only ended up angry, so she decided that she wouldn’t speak to him at all. Though this move did allow her to hear more then she cared to, her aunt and her cousin had fallen asleep, it was her watch when she heard the voices of the male shoulders talking.
“I can’t believe they’ve asked for a miko in this thing.” said the first, and had she been human, she wouldn’t have heard them at all, but what they didn’t know didn’t hurt them…yet.
“I hear its to be more for the sport.” said the second.
“Poor human doesn’t have a chance against some of those demoness.’” said another.
“I don’t know, this miko’s a feisty one.” said the messenger. “I’d say she’ll last a little bit, but I wouldn’t put my money on her being the winner.” by now Kagome was pissed. She wanted with every fiber of her being to get out of the carriage they were in and kill the lot of them.
“I’m surprised Lord Sesshomaru is even allowing her entry.” said the first voice again. Kagome was making mental notes of the tone of their voices, she knew when this debacle was over she’d sly everyone of them, painfully. Even now the idea of their blood on her claws was sickeningly arousing, she’d admit to herself at this point she needed to get laid, being a nearly four hundred year old virgin sucked. Sighing she noticed the men had stopped their talking, she didn’t really care why but the quiet of the night was a bit alarming. Shifting in her position she woke both her aunt and cousin, signing to them that ‘something was up.’ she pulled her short sword, everything in her being was screaming and no sooner did she feel it and pull her aunt and cousin down to the floor of the carriage did the roof get ripped off. The guards were battling lower youkai, she scowled at the sight sheathing her short sword and drew her long sword instead, it was a demon blade and though in theory it should harm a miko it could not effect her, she jumped from the ruin carriage with ease. Her battle stance was practiced and perfect, and the youkai guard escort were hard pressed not to notice her ease in defeating of the lower youkai who attacked.
They saw the miko jump from the carriage with practiced grace her long sword drawn, her movement swift and graceful, as she cut one after another. The hum and sing of her blade calling out death to all that opposed her, her long raven hair billowed in the wake of her movements. Movements that were so flawless that no one move was wasted, not one pivot overstepped, she had been feisty and that was all they had assessed her for, but in the heat of battle they would each fall upon their swords happily to bed and ravage this creature of death and destruction. She did not yell or scream or even grunt as her tasks were carried out silently, blood flowed like water that night and when the last youkai fell they were in awe of the warrior miko. They would have to reassess her ability to fight, and inform the Lady of the west that her ‘test subject’ would not be one to fall so easily.
“Tell me messenger, where is the neatest body of water?” she asked in a calm voice while slinging the offending blood from her sword and sheathing it.
“Why would you need to know?” asked the neko youkai suspiciously.
“I wish to wash the blood from my person, it would not do well for it to set, aside from that the caked in blood would draw more unwanted attention. I’m sure even you can understand that.” She said dangerously. She could scent the water herself, but it would not do well to allow them to wonder about how she knew such things. She watched as a clawed finger was pointed in the direction of the stream she already knew was there. “Lady Sango, Lady Rin, if you would?” both females nodded and began to walk towards the water when Kagome heard the low growl coming from her cousin. A guard had come over and grabbed the girl.
“This one stays here, I won’t be off chasing you all night if you decide to run.” said the owned of the second voice from earlier, Kagome made a mental note that he wasn’t as stupid as he sounded before.
“Lady Sango will stay in her place, as she is the girls mother, there should be no matter.” stated Kagome calmly. Sango walked over towards the guard and flexed her claws menacingly.
“Release her.” she said in a low voice that warranted death. The guard was not stupid, part hanyou or not, a pissed off female over a pup was never anything good to deal with. Kagome waited while Rin gathered more clothing, and went in the direction of the stream was in. Kagome disrobed and washed herself of the fowl blood, normally it wouldn’t bother her but to bathe in it literally, allowed the blood to stink. She soaked her hair in the cool stream and allowed it to rinse. She watched as Rin did the unasked, and cleansed the miko garb of blood, it would still be wet for a bit but it would be clean, she exited the stream and dressed.
“I don’t like this Rin, keep your guard up at all times, its to be a head hunt. I won’t allow either of you to get hurt over something so trivial, if I must i will uncloak myself and you and your mother will return from wince we came. Do not dare disobey me in this, for I already know you’ll object. If for any reason I perish, the Southern lands are now yours to take care of as you are a hime of the Southern Territories, and next in line to inherit. They wont know what hit them if it comes to it, and I will continue on without the guards.” said Kagome as she finished dressing and began her way back towards Sango.
“Hn.” was all her cousin said with a nod of her head. Rin too did not like what had happened, her cousin the southern star was not a weakling by far, in fact it still amazed her to see Kagome fight at all, stealth and practiced ease were like air to Kagome, she simply did. When they arrived back at the ‘campsite’ they found the second guard out cold for kami know what reason, neither bothered to ask, and seeing as they couldn’t leave him they made camp for the evening. Sango kept watch that night as her pup and her niece slept, though Kagome was not at all in a deep sleep as she kept her senses on high alert.
Morning came and with it they made again for the western territories. It had taken three more days to arrive at the boarders of the strong hold city, it was a thriving metropolis, filled with many different kinds of canine youkai. Kitsune, ookami, inu, roamed around in relative peace, Kagome took notice of everything, mostly the exits, and possible escape routes, she could not help it, years upon years of training insisted upon her doing this. What really helped was it left the messenger with a false sense that the female miko was just in awe and taking notice of how grand the city was. Leading them to the Palace of the moon, again the messenger got the wrong message of awe as he led the odd human into the palace.
Sango too was taking note of the palace lay out, it would do them no good if they had to run and didn’t know here to go, like Kagome she had been trained by Shin, Kagome’s father and her pack-brother before the coop was staged, her mate Miroku, Shin‘s younger brother lost, her pack, and life taken from her. She didn’t like to remember those times, she had just had her pup, and was not able to fight. Only Kagome had been able to escape with her, she had lost her pack sister, the alpha female Sayuri in the mayhem of that horrible night. Sayuri had died to protect her pups, though her youngest Souta had died that night as well, only Kagome herself and Rin made it out of the Southern territories to safety. Sighing, she looked over at her pup, her Rin who looked just like her father on so many occasions, and when Kagome’s concealment spell was down one could see the family resemblance easily. Her attention was brought back to the current situation, when she heard many audible gasps.
The messenger had just had them announced, Kagome held her head high, she could tell that her aunt was not keeping an watchful eye, but she had given Rin eye contact to say, ‘keep your eyes down and do not draw attention to yourself.’ Sango had looked up only briefly before her eyes too were now down cast, and only Kagome looked forward with no fear of restitution. They could all hear the whisper clearly, everyone was wondering who the human bitch with the hanyou and pup was, what she was doing here at this gather, surely she was not to participate. How wrong they were, not that she wanted to win, but she’d be damned if she lost to any of these stuck up bitches, or the stuck up lordly brat, or his mother.
Unlike the Lady of the West, Kagome did not need to mate to keep or hold her title, all she had to do was seek vengeance against those who had brought pain and death to her clan. The Higurashi had been a clan of dark inu’s, most of them dark browns, muted grays, and midnight blacks, they were the silver and whites of the West counterpart. The Taishou’s of the West and the Higurashi of the South did not mix, but there was great peace between the two clans, Kagome had remembered a time long ago when she had met this bratish Lord, they had been pups, and though she didn’t remember what it had all been about she remembered him then, cold and indifferent. It was how she too was raised to be, though she had taken more of her assassin training to heart, as had her little cousin. The Higurashi were known as dark shadows, though they were nothing of the sort, their clan trained in supreme stealth, and fighting skills that allowed a quick and quiet death, though it didn’t mean that it would be painless.
Kagome’s eyes cast around the crowd, taking in the sight of females that had obviously overdressed for a fight, their guardians or family, as well as the many other guests of the room. It didn’t matter if she were a Lady, a miko, or just another demoness, she sure as hell wasn’t going to let her guard down. The stench of jealousy, lust, need, desire, and many other sinful scents filled her nose, by the gods she’d sooner kill them all then put up with this smell, she only hoped she had a window in whatever room they put her in. Kagome was still scanning the crowd of people as she walked, her senses keeping an eye on the person walking before her so that she didn’t bump into them, when her eyes landed on the greatest prize of all. Before her was the lord she had been looking for, for the last two decades, the spider hanyou, who dared to take what was not his, and failed by not finishing what he started, Naraku.
Her lips curled into a wicked smile as her eyes glistened with desire to spill his blood, her aura must have spiked, she thought as she felt the calming hand of her aunt upon her shoulder. Taking notice not that she had found something to actually be happy about being here for the first time in a week. Though now she had many more eyes upon her, part of her wonderful concealment spell was that her normal demonic ki was changed and reformed into spiritual ki instead. It was a wonderful trick that a Kitsune had taught her, to conceal ones self in broad daylight without fear or restitutions, and though she never used it unless they had visitors it came in handy every now and then. Those in her family, those marked as pack would never be harmed but such tricks but those around her unmarked would be. Sadly it could not dissolve the feeling that had brought the waves of power out of her in the first place, and so the rest of the demon world that surround her, had just gotten a healthy dose of miko energy, filled with desire while she had been looking at the hanyou filth. No matter, when she killed him only his supposed ‘pups’ and the head general would be left.
2. Meet and Greet
Hatsumomo was pleased when she heard them announce the miko’s presence for once the little twit settled in the battles could begin, though she could feel no reiatsu from the female miko, she noted with distain that the human female was ‘pretty’ even if by low standards of mortals. To her utter shock and almost horror the miko’s servants were an inu hanyou, and a pup, who looked similar. Hatsumomo’s golden eyes watched the careful step of the miko, who was not paying attention to her direction and yet was not any bit unfired by it. She watched as the female’s unusual muddy blue eyes shifted through the crowd until they fell on the Lord of the South, Naraku. He was a vile male, though the west had never really had reason to fight the south, the old leaders were far better for the land it self as well as its people, human and demon alike. It had been a hard bit of news for the Taishou clan to find out that one of the other large inu clans had been decimated over night, but that was the ancient law, for one to take on the land as a cardinal, one had to destroy all vestiges of the old raceme, which was what happened to the Higurashi clan of the south.
Hatsumomo’s gaze grew wide for a brief moment as the miko’s powers flared wildly, where before stood just a human female, now stood a female a blazed in glowing blue flames of reiatsu. The power licked and flashed wildly around her and she seemed not to have noticed at all, as though this was every day occurrence. Even more to her shock was the hanyou woman who looked somewhat like the miko, placed her hand on the females shoulder, calming those deadly flames of death with just an eased touch. It was unheard of, the hanyou should have been burned, purified, and yet she was intact, whole. Whispered conversation grew rapidly as all who witness had something to say about the human female. Her cold golden gaze watched a wicked smile plastered itself upon the little humans face, as the scent of her --‘desire?’-- wafted up the dais towards herself and Sesshomaru.
The humans eyes locked on Naraku, the desire was not that of sexual nature, she had been smelling that since most of these horny bitches had made it to her home in hopes to bed and mate with her son, no it was a desire to do something else. But what? She thought as she noticed those muddy blue eyes gleaning with murderous intent, but that was impossible, humans did not, and could not reflect such in their eyes, even the hateful and fearful beings of man kind could not reflect something so predatory and feral as that, which was a youkai’s murderous intent. She pondered the young human female, whom she had only intended for entertainment, and when she should die, one less miko to kill off their kind. Now she genuinely wanted to see what the little miko could do, silently she was already cheering her, though she did not want the miko to win the war, only a battle or two, enough to make the wait for her worth it.
The Western Lord though he had not shown his surprise had much the same idea as his mother, though he hated that she’d brought a human in on this, a miko at that, for her sick amusement. He had assumed her to be a little to no power at all, even weak miko held reiatsu in their being, and from this female he could feel none, maybe, considering she had a sword upon her wide hips rather then a bow she was a warrior. But then her eyes had danced all the way up the isle to the dais, she had not fallen or bumped into the one leading her, her steps were measured, calculated, guarded, the point was that no true warrior took their eyes off the enemy. But then he realized she was in a room full of youkai, to everything around her and vice versa, they were all her enemy.
“Its about time you made it here, we were all waiting for your arrival, miko.” intoned Hatsumomo, from Sesshomaru’s side, watching the human miko stop and look at her. Now all protocol, regardless of human or youkai courts required that one being addressed were to look upon the feet of the one speaking to them, and that to do otherwise was disrespectful and in youkai courts the sign of a challenge. A lesser being, like say …a certain miko would not ever be allowed to raise their eyes unless advised to directly so do, so to say the Lady of the Western lands was shocked and angered to be greeted by cold pale blue eyes, was to say the least an understatement. Faster then most in the room could see, those few being Kagome, Hatsumomo, Sesshomaru and a few others, The lady of those lands descended like a wrathful god upon the ‘unsuspecting’ miko, much to the bitches surprise Kagome was not there when Hatsumomo landed in front of the same place the girl had been just moments before.
“My lady, I will say this only once. I came because I was told that I had no choice, do not think me unable to protect myself even in this situation. I would think one who has called me here for such, vagrant tasks would at least have faith in me not to be weak, the prize of coarse wouldn’t been near as valuable if anyone could have it.” Said Kagome from behind a suppressed Hatsumomo. The silver Lady turned to attack, but was blocked by the miko’s sword. “Now is not the time to fight, if I’m correct, Milady.” answered the cool Kagome, as the area around them gasped in shock that a human miko could move with speeds faster in some cases then their own. Many eyes feel upon the pair locked in a battle stance, many eyes saw that the little miko was holding up against one of their strongest with nothing more then the steel of her blade, for not reiatsu was being drawn into the blade itself. Lustful eyes set on the pair, hungry eyes, angry eyes, even the proud eyes of her aunt fell upon them, but it was the set of Golden eyes that matter most.
“ENOUGH!” roared the ruling taiyoukai, causing Hatsumomo to pull off of Kagome, and Kagome to re-sheath her sword. “Human, because you seem to be unaware of your transgression--” honestly Kagome was not ‘unaware‘, she simply was not concerned with protocol,”--This Sesshomaru, and Lady Hatsumomo will forgive you. This once and only once. From this moment on though, you are never to look upon us in the eyes unless advised to do so. Is that understood?” he questioned dangerously. Kagome smirked, the effect making her look carefree and arrogant, but she nodded non the less keeping her gaze off the heated inu lord above her. Arrogant brat, she inwardly laughed off the thought, it was surely a shame that she was going to be forced to killing so many who had no chance against her. It wasn’t’ their fault that they were going up against the heir of the southern heir, a taiyoukai, hell taiyoukai’s didn’t have stupid battles over mates to be, it was always about land and power, and so these bitches, these poor females set to face what they thought was a mere human, well they were all going to die, it was sad really.
“Milord?” asked the innocent sounding miko.
“Hn.” taking this as a ‘continue’ Kagome asked.
“When are the ‘festivities’ going to begin?” she asked, causing a near uproar that she should even be so blatant. Even Sesshomaru was a bit annoyed and didn’t keep it out of his voice when he asked.
“Are you in such a hurry to die human?” it was cold and unnerving to most, but his reply was a slight laughter, a methodical, humorous, breathy quiet laughter. She fought the sound to speak, that arrogant smirk that she used even in the joy of bloodshed, when those she sought out took their last dying breath caused by her claws, still on her face.
“I have no intention of dying here.” she finally said in a voice that was utterly true, strong, brave, and seductive. “I simply wanted to know when the fun begins. Though I do feel sorry for those that are pitted against me.” she said thoughtfully. Many youkai in the room were ready to lung forward and take the rude onna by the throat show her her place, and yet the miko’s body tensed just a bit, the dog lord could see that if anything came her way it would be dead by her hand, that was a warriors body standing there, it seemed though that none were willing to do what their aura’s spoke so loudly of, and yet the onna’s smirk grew bold, curious, he thought. Normally he wouldn’t answer as such things would be told to her eventually, but something in him was actually amused by the bold female. With a dark chuckle he replied.
“The ‘festivities’ as you call them begin at dawn, and will continue until dusk, they will continue in such a manor until there is only one of you, gladiators of the heart left, which may be a while considering the amount of females in attendance. Is that acceptable, onna?” asked the dog lord.
“But of coarse milord, though I certainly hope your lands undertaker has rested up, their going to be busy.” she said as thought it was only natural. Oddly enough the only thing that actually startled her since stepping into this place was the bark of deep laughter that came from the lord of the lands. Sesshomaru couldn’t contain it, this human woman, actually thought that she was going to do damage to any of the demoness’ here, it was probably the funniest thing he’d heard in a lifetime.
“I will have to watch you die human, I’m sure it will be most uneventful.” he returned.
“Then you will be watching for a while, milord, as I have said before I have no intention of dying here.” she answered again, but his laughter did not return, only his cold nature.
“We will see then won’t we.” finishing the conversation, while watching the odd human’s wicked smile grow. His mother took this moment to clear the air and take control again, it wasn’t every day that her son spoke, battered even with anyone let alone a miko. It was almost scary to see and hear, and by the looks many of the other demons in the room could not believe it alone, she knew now she was going to have to keep an eye on both her son, and the miko.
The rest of the day had honestly been uneventful, the girls were shown to their rooms, they had dinner with the other ‘gladiators of the heart’ along with some of their families, and the other cardinal lords that were in attendance, though those who had come along with the females had not bee allowed at the table, but were placed behind them, and so Sango sat attentively through a horrible boring dinner, listening to far to much conversation over the human and the hanyou who brought the inu pup, also how her niece had reacted to the Western lord. Many she heard were interested in seeing what Kagome could do, others simply wanted their chance at her. She inwardly laughed at how all of these poor girls weren’t going to be laughing when they faced Kagome, hell she didn’t even like fighting Kagome.
From there it was lights out, and the first battles at dawn in the morning. Like every day though Kagome was up far before any other, truly it was night still when she rose. Seeing as they weren’t at home any longer she placed a barrier she knew her aunt could break from the inside on their room. It was a barrier that only one of her clan could break, and thus her aunt, and if not her then Rin could break the barrier to get out of the room, but none would be able to enter from anywhere, not even Shadow youkai, or light youkai. Finding the hot springs by scent alone she bathed and dressed, greeting the servants that entered after her expecting there to be none there already in kind, which honestly shocked most of them she took her leave of the place quickly. Heading down to the main hall and out into one of the large fields she did nothing but practice forms with her swords as the sun rose.
By this time though Kagome was in a near trance, she could sense many aura’s around her, and yet none gave off ill intent so she continued her practice. Those around her watched the onna with awed faces, no human they had ever seen had such grace and even many youkai did not have such practiced skill. Her dance was a deadly one and those pitted against her, true to her word weren’t going to get off easy. Sesshomaru watched her from a distance, from a balcony high in his palace, such stances even he didn’t know the female human danced with ease, her blades swinging through air, he watched from the moment she came out even until now. Servants had actually set up around her and yet still she practiced, sighing to himself he wondered if there was even a remote possibility that the human could win. He knew she wasn’t going down at first, specially not seeing her now, but how far could she get? He wondered, as he watched her take yet another powerful swing of her blade.
Sango and Rin made their way to Kagome, after having woken not long ago, they knew her she would be in practice before she fought, so making their way out, they had not expected to see a crowd watching her. Making her way to the front of the group, Rin standing back at this point as Sango drew her sword. The moment the metal hit metal Kagome came back. “Good morning Sango.” she said with a smile as she sheathed her sword and stretched.
“Good morning my lady. You should not have snuck out so early, how long have you been in practice?” Kagome wasn’t listening she was taking note of how many were actually around her, damn, she thought looking upon the many faces who had watched her, truly had any attempted to pull her from her trance other then Sango she would have attacked. Sango’s calm face was one of the few that did not trigger her instincts to kill when being pulled form that particular training.
“Um… well seeing as how the Suns almost up, I’d say about two hours.” answered Kagome finally while receiving a scowl from her aunt.
“By the gods your hopeless, what’ll happen when you get tired?” she asked as though she were the girls mother, which for most cases was true. Though many around them did not know this, many thought the relationship odd. But soon the pair were bickering, but even thought was cut short by the gentle “ahem” from Rin, causing both to look over her way, and realize that they were being watched. Smiling brightly as now it seemed all the possible hundred or more participants were in attendance, it was time to begin this battle for courtship.

1. Playing the Part.
Kagome sat there in the night passively with a slightly more stoic face then one she would normally produce as her cheerier self, it was her watch tonight and the fire blazed in a sleepy dance as it slowly began to die out leaving more embers then actual cracking fire. The light orange glow from the small campsite drifted out around them, their shadows casting out behind them, some small others large, Kagome looked around. It had to be about one in the morning judging by the high cast from the blinding crisp white moon. She sighed, “Its now or never…or at least not for a while.” Standing quietly, too quietly for a normal human, she focused on her companions, all of them breathing steady and slow, realizing they were indeed completely asleep, she crept out of the campsite until the fires edge of light and placed an invisible barrier around them.
Three years in the era had allowed her to become a very powerful miko, though she wasn’t a miko, she had made no vows of chastity, had sworn her life to no gods, at least none that her peers knew about. Looking back as she casually walked away from them, a small grin played at her face, she had done this on many occasions, it was a need, a lust to be herself, who was not who they got to see. The barrier, though invisible, gave them restful sleep, insuring that none would wake and find her missing, though Kirara had often stalked off after her, the only one immune to this trick, the small cat never gave her grief about it, in fact it seemed like their little secret. “Come on Kirara, I want to run and fly, want to come? Or would you prefer to stay here tonight?” she asked the small cat as it walked out of the barrier. The two tailed mewed and turned around to go back to her mistress, tonight she would stay with the humans, the kit and the hanyou, though it never bothered Kagome when she stayed, it reassured her a bit to know that not all were under the restful spell. Smiling back at the small cat Kagome said.
“Keep them safe if the worst comes. I’ll be back soon, I just have to stretch out.” she giggled a bit as she noticed Kirara stretching and yawning back into place with the slayer. Kagome began to run, as fast as she could in this form, finally about a mile away she removed the spell cast upon her. The magic too old to have a name poured over her, she stretched as her hair grew longer, her body grew more fit, and voluptuous in the right places, as her nails grew into small points, not quiet claws, but not just nails. She stretched more as her ears began to point at the tips and the color of her eyes began to swirl from a muddy deep blue to a vibrant, icy sky blue. Her body seemed to glow in the cast of the moon light, she loved this feeling, being natural, and yet it pained her to have to hide it. Not that she was allowed to show it off, no like all things here, she had a secret, she was an enigma.
To look at her now anyone would think or know that she was either a demon or a dark celestial maiden, her onyx hair hung just past her pert and round buttocks stopping mid thigh, her skin though a bit more sun kissed in this form was still bathed beautifully in the pale moon light, her eyes glowed and sang to the world that she was free if only for a moment. Too elated in the moment at the small bit of freedom she had claimed for herself, she hadn’t noticed the presence of Sesshomaru, he hadn’t had the chance to see her transform, but he really didn’t need to see it, he could smell it. He had followed the girl scent upon finding his brothers pack cast in a restful barrier, which only the two tails seemed to be immune from. The small fire cat had come from the barrier to greet him, long before the cat had realized that the great lord was no threat to this pack, except for the hanyou, and even then he no longer posed a threat for he no longer wanted Tetssaiga.
She mewed her greeting, and the crescent lord spoke, “Where is the girl?” he asked in his normally cool voice. To which Kirara gave him a hard look, knowing she could not know what he truly wanted, he said, “Her scent wonders from this place, and it is not safe tonight. She is the key to more then killing Naraku, and we would be hard pressed to wait another 500 years to destroy him.” he finished. Kirara was if nothing more a logical feline, knowing exactly what he meant, she had been one of the guardians of the Shikon jewel, along with Midoriko, sadly Kikyo, and now Kagome, even though she had also pleaded her allegiance to the huntress of her former mistresses village. She tilted her head in the direction that Kagome had gone. “Thank you.” he said before leaving the motley crew of sleeping warriors.
Walking with demonic speed, he felt the heavy change in aura’s, her light and spiritual aura vanishing into a heavy demonic aura like his own, figuring another powerful being had found the little miko he arrived just in time to see her stretching out her beautiful honeyed body. Luckily Kagome had the foresight to change into clothing of this era before leaving her group, when he found just the demoness, Sesshomaru for lack of another feelings was both shocked and annoyed.
He could scent a few things right from the start, one, she was both unmated and virginal, two, she was an inu demoness or at least she smelt like one, three, she was gorgeous and he wanted her. But then there was something wrong, he’d followed the scent of the little miko, his brother’s wench as he often referred to her, and the scent led him to the demoness before him. The miko’s heady scent of sakura, tea and moonflowers had always calmed him, delighted him and yet this female had a similar if not more pleasing scent, it was clean and smelled very similar but there was a mix in her scent, she smelled like a sea breeze on a cool morning, mixed in with the heady scents of the little miko.
Her back was turned to him but all too soon Kagome turned with lightening fast reflexes to see the Western lord staring at her, but the look of anger, indifference or annoyance she expected was gone, and only a calm blank stair with his lips being left slightly parted. She had to have been the most alluring, sexually eye pleasing demoness he had ever seen in all his many years living, he thought, as he took in her dark and uncommon beauty. He wondered if that was all she had to offer, just divine beauty, he wondered if she could hold a conversation, or if she knew when not to...to remain quiet, how to pour tea and serve her mate, he wondered many things seeing her for the first time, but never got to ask one thing of her. Kagome saw the male, Sesshomaru, surprise registered on her face, and did the only thing she could do, she ran.
Now as a human this would be a fool hardy thing, but as a demoness of the southern star clan, the ruling clan of the South, where the wind itself was subject to their will, running was indeed a good plan. It took not more then three seconds for her to turn, and plant a transformed paw to the ground, she took her most natural form, a great black furred inu, and to the skies she went, leaving him alone, aroused, perplexed and rather annoyed. Sesshomaru had gotten only a fleeting glance at her face, what he could make out was only her strikingly brilliant icy sky blue eyes, and the pale crest upon her forehead, “An heir to the Southern Star.” he murmured to himself, then to anyone else. He wanted to give chase, he wanted to take her to the ground and bed her for her visual breeding stock alone, but he had come for a reason, the human woman, the little miko. Scowling he went on to find her.
“Miko.” he stated more cold then he might normally, finding the very human Kagome sitting in a hot springs closer towards her camp site. “Why have you left the campsite, and the protection of my half-brother so late in the night?” he asked, eyeing daggers into the back of her head, as he watched her pour hot water over her arms from the small spring. Truly had she been the demoness, it would be so very perfect, he thought, here she is, in the most sexual way I have ever seen her and it is lost on me because she is human, he finished to himself. “Miko.” he intoned his displeasure at having to repeat himself.
“I am not deaf.” she said in a voice that intoned her own annoyance at having her night cut so utterly short. “Would you prefer that I yell at you without thought or provocation like your brother or would you prefer that I think through my answer before giving it. Because at the moment I do not wish to speak, I wish only to enjoy the night, and the heat of this water.” she answered surprising him. She looked so similar to the demoness he’d just seen, smelt nearly the same as well, but now in the clearing water of the hot springs they didn’t smell alike at all, he thought as he took a seat near the springs but far enough away to give her privacy.
“Why are you always so difficult?” he asked to himself more then anyone, but of coarse in this, Kagome heard, it was a whisper on the wind that gently caressed her ear like a lovers touch.
“I am difficult because I am worth it, and because I refuse to be ordered around by anyone.” she answered more to herself then anyone, but the words were heard by the other party at the hot springs, and surprised as he was he nearly chuckled at the defensive and always hot headed miko. “Sesshomaru?” she questioned aloud after some time. Which only received silence as a reply, but she knew he was listening. “Why did you come tonight of all nights?” she asked in a level headed tone. The lord got up from his rock at the other side of the hot springs and crotched down to the floor bed of the forest to look closer into her eyes to give his answer. Not really focusing on anything she still had her back to him, her long hair floating wildly about her on the waters surface, he said.
“Because even if that idiot doesn’t notice when you leave, and even if you can take care of yourself, myself, the slayer, the monk, and mostly Naraku, know that you are the key to his destruction. Even if you’d like nothing in the world then for me to vanish from this moment to leave you alone, I would not. For once a mere human is far more important then this Sesshomaru.” he finished as she finally turned to look at him, with strikingly brilliant icy sky blue eyes. His breath might have caught in his throat had he not been born Sesshomaru of the Western lands, but as he had been born himself, he only stared at the dark haired woman, some part awed and some parted annoyed. “Have you been here all night?” he asked knowing she could not lie to him without him noticing.
“I might have been.” she said knowing he could tell if it was a lie.
“Answer this Sesshomaru.” he ordered.
“That was an answer, it just might not be the one you want.” she said as she turned her eyes from him and went under the water. The angered male demon did not like this answer, he mentally kicked himself for speaking to her in the first place, but her eyes, her eyes were the same, spiraling with energy, and yet so very lively. She bathed in piece for the rest of the night, his back was turned when she got out of the spring, she knew very well, as a human she was nothing to him. But that was okay, according to her father that was how it was supposed to be, and if anything she would play the part correctly. She would help the hanyou, be supportive, complete the jewel again, and bring the Taishou brothers together in battle. To complete her task was the only way to save both males, and their pasts as it related to her future from the dark mutt that was Naraku.
She lead the way to the camp by smell, not that she said anything to him about it, and he followed keeping an eye on her, hearing her human nose sniff here and there, curiously though he chose not to ask what she was doing, for she would more then likely say it was just a cold, he was surprised when they walked up on her campsite. “Sesshomaru?” she asked turning back to him when she noticed his presence no longer following her. He stopped and only looked over his should to indicate that he was listening. Taking it as a sign of the positive she made her play. “Would you join us tomorrow, I’m sure Rin would like a playmate as would Shippo, and our odds of finding Naraku would greatly improve if you were around.” she said.
“Hmph. Do you think the half breed would stop yelling his fool head off if I were around? I do not wish to deal with him, or even smell him.” he stated coldly and began to walk off, but again stopped when she called him, why he might never know, something in him couldn’t help but stop when she called his name, he loved his name coming off her lips, and hated himself for loving it.
“Sesshomaru! Please, hear me out. I know your half- brother can be a hand full, by the gods I know that more then most, but I wish this infernal war was over, the sooner Naraku dies, the faster that can happen, the faster we call all go back to a more peaceful normal life. One where my son, and your Rin don’t have to worry about either of their parents dying just because we fight for a greater good.” she pleaded with him, and to that he turned around and advanced upon her, pinning her to a near by tree with his body.
“How dare you presume that I could die by the hands of such a filthy hanyou, let alone that I would want to even join your ragtag group.” he seethed coldly to her, but watched as no trace of fear assaulted her scent, and not tears came from her eyes, as always she had never been afraid of him, and he both hated and loved her for it, and in turn hated and both loved himself over it. Kagome’s heart rate remained its normal pace, her temperature the same, even calm reigned her body as she spoke her words gently knowing he would hear her through his heated brain.
“I presume nothing of you, more then the fact that you want what we all want, Naraku dead. And as for anything else, I assume Rin truly loves you, why else would such a lovely child follow one who could kill the whole world with his cold hatred of life beneath him.” He pressed her body harder for her words, and had she been a real human it might be painful, but as she was not, she felt no need to relent. “Your brother, would be my problem to deal with, and my ‘ragtag’ group as you call them, are more then enough to deal with Naraku, or have you forgotten that we are his usual targets not you and your fluffy ass.” she bit out at him clenching her jaws shut near his nose as though she might actually bite him. He hated her for these words, but he loved her for her defiance.
Turning with the grace of someone in his station, he threw her towards the ground and turned to walk away, never seeing that she did not fall to the ground but instead bounced off of it with an equal grace, leaping to the side and landing perfectly. He had waited for her cry of pain, and only turned back when it never came to see her walking into the barrier back to the others. “You have a secret, and I will find out what it is little miko, just wait and see.” he said as he continued back to where he’d left his dragon, ward and servant.
Morning came as always pale and calm, peaceful, she lifted the barrier just before dawn when she heard the hanyous steady breathing speed up showing her that he was awake. Really it wasn’t dawn just yet, more like the young light of morning, when the dark blanket of stars begins to vanished into the mewy pale colors of morning. Kagome like most demons needed little sleep, but in this form she needed at least an hour to survive the day. She knew Inuyasha would let her sleep, but she also knew she would hear no end of it when she woke up about how she could fall asleep when she was the watch for the night, about how she should have woken him up if she was tired. She wouldn’t care she never did, she wouldn’t start, but she would play the role as though she did, as she had, and as she would until she could finally have her life back, stupid jewel, she mentally muttered.
Kagome felt the world moving slowly around her, her kit had already freed himself from the sleeping bag, Miroku had already gotten slapped for touching, Sango was already cooking breakfast, and Inuyasha was already starting to grumble, she would have stayed asleep a little longer had Sesshomaru’s presence not tickled her senses. Rising out of what the others thought was a deep sleep she darted from the camp site to greet the ever stoic lord, and his companions. The others only half stared at her figuring as if it was a need to relieve herself early in the morning, when she walked back into camp with Rin on her hip, the small girl wrapped in a motherly embrace, followed by Sesshomaru, the kappa, and the dragon, it was a whole other story.
Inuyasha was already breathing in to release his aversion to his elder brother being there, when Kagome barely whispered, “Sit” causing him to plummet into the hard ground with a loud impact. Fighting the spell he was up faster then he usually was and already about to scream again when she laid Rin in her own sleeping bag, and murmured “sit” again forcing the hanyou back into the ground. Kagome took great pleasure in tucking a lose tendril of hair that had splayed across Rins face behind her ears when again Inuyasha was up and about to start his tirade, when Kagome glared icy daggers, spelling death to the hanyou if she should have to raise her voice. He knew that look all to well and pent his ears back grumbling to himself as she finished up with Rin. The whole scene, even down to the motherly way Kagome took care of Rin, to the fiery way she handled Inuyasha, had been noticed by Sesshomaru, if he hadn’t been born himself he would have laughed wholeheartedly, and pounced the female that had just tucked his daughter into bed.
“I invited Sesshomaru, Jaken, Rin, and…” she looked back at Sesshomaru for help.
“Au-Un.” he said noticing the pretty blush on her face as she looked back to her traveling companions.
“..To travel with us, in hopes that together we can find and overthrow Naraku. Its well known to all in this group that he hates each and everyone of us, and would like nothing more then our own deaths just as much as we long for his. I do hope that you all,” she said eyeing her group, “… will allow them to join us, it can never hurt to have another sword to champion evil.” she said watching both Sango and Miroku nod, followed by Shippo, and Jaken, turning to face Inuyasha she glowered. “Say what you have to say Inuyasha, but keep your voice down, if you wake that child you’ll pay dearly.” she said in a less then cheery Kagome fashion, catching most off guard, most… but not Sesshomaru.
“He ain’t comin’ with us, and that’s final.” growled Inuyasha, causing both Kagome’s and Sesshomaru’s eyes to flash in anger, and though he would have liked to have dealt with his baby brother on his own it was Kagome that beat him to the punch, moving faster then he thought a human should be able to she was to Inuyasha’s side, his dog ear in her tightly pressed grasp.
“Now you listen here, I’ve just about had it with this, Inuyasha, its been long three years, I’m tired, Sango’s tired, Miroku’s tired, Shippo, Jaken, Kirara and the dragon are tired, I’m sure even Lord Sesshomaru’s bored with this shit.” She bit out harshly to him in a tone so low none of the other humans could hear her, but all of the demons could. “I want to be done with this, and if your brother needs to be here to do then he will. I will remind you this now because you seem to have forgotten that this is not your pack, but mine, I asked you, Shippo, Miruku, Sango and Kirara to join me, Just as I asked Sesshomaru. So if this group belongs to anyone it is not you, it is me!” she said to him throwing him by the ear to the ground. Her eyes were cold, her face was annoyed, if she could be herself she’d have killed him, but she couldn’t and she wouldn’t so she played her part, his supportive wench, and right now he was giving her a lot of shit for it. But she had been right, and Inuyasha knew it, he feared Kagome when she was like this, an increasingly thing now-a-days. He figured that three years of this might make many people pissed off.
By now Kagome needed to walk away from him, she knew all too well that she would ‘sit’ him so deep into the ground that they would find a cavern if she looked at him any more this day. It had been so easy to do this three years ago, three years in an immortal life shouldn’t be this hard, she thought, its this bodies fault, this body that rages with emotions and hormones, that longs, and wants, this body… I need to finish the job, so I can be done with this body! she sighed and walked off. “Hey where do you think your going?!?” the hanyou raged, and it was enough, enough to stop her in mid step, to raise her temper just enough.
“SIT!” she said with so much energy, and throwing so much of her aura into it that the hanyou crashed into the ground far enough to bury the dead in. Her aura, had given away just a bit of her secret though, she hadn’t even realized it, but when she was angry like this, both her spiritual and demonic aura’s cracked together, against each other with force. The effect of which was damning enough, both Miroku, and Sesshomaru saw it, but Sesshomaru had seen what he wanted to see, the pale star upon her forehead, for a brief moment it had been there, and then gone again with her pulsing aura to fix the ripple of demonic energy. “I’ll be back.” she said not that loud but the demons had heard and that was enough.
Sesshomaru turned to the two adult humans, “Did you see that?” he asked, Miroku nodded while Sango replied.
“I felt it, just now when she got angry, was that a demonic aura?” She asked, to which Sesshomaru nodded before turning to follow the woman, while both Miroku and Sango followed. Jaken though stayed, he didn’t need to be asked, he didn’t want to go anywhere near that miko, he’d never admit it but she had to be the scariest human he’d ever seen in all his long years. It was fine to stay here the kit and the two tailed cat were gone with them leaving just the sleeping Rin, the two headed dragon, and the unconscious hanyou behind to watch over, if anything he seemed happy not to follow.
Kagome had stalked out of camp faster then a human should have been able to, by the gods she hated her human body, the spell to seal her demonic blood and jyaki, it was not complex or hard spell, for it only took one strong enough to weld to use it; It didn’t take much out of her to perform it, the spell simply left her far too emotional for her own liking, and even when she released it the spell still bound some of her powers because she was not mated. Jealousy, jealousy was not something she enjoyed, in fact she had wanted more then anything to simply slash the clay woman years before to silence her constant rant, and end her stench of death and grave soil. Huffing to herself she knew they were following her, not all of them, but most, some how Kagome knew today was the day her secret would be revealed.
Sesshomaru saw her sitting against a trees trunk, her eyes closed, her tight fitting top clinging to her round breasts, and her lose pants hanging from her hips, ’sleeping garments’ he’d overheard her once say. She looked so peaceful, but he needed to know, entering the clearing his knuckles cracked as his lime green acid whip flew in her direction, if she was a human then the tree behind her would get burned, and she’d only stir to the sound of the sizzle for the whip was too fast for her spiritual powers to detect until it was too late. What did happen though was nothing short of alarming, as the whip cracked towards her, a flick of her own wrist as her concealment spell fell, his acidic bright green was met with a vibrant pale pink whip of her own, while a swirling mass of energetic icy sky blue locked on alarmed fiery amber.
2. The Secrets we keep.
Sango and Miroku jumped in their skin at the low nearly feral growl that came from Kagome’s throat, her annoyed yet happy eyes once muddy blue became electric with angry icy silverfish blue, Kagome charged Sesshomaru in demonic speed. “You dare attack me?!?” she seethed. From then it was a blur of black and white, growls and blood, neither human could keep up with the escalated pace of the taiyoukais as they clashed against one another. Minutes passed as finally they were thrown from one another, both landing in fighting stances as they skid to a stop twenty paces from where they originally landed, a straight line of dirt and ground ripped up in their wake.
“It seems you’ve been keeping secrets miko.” his dark baritone voice echoed through the clearing as a genuine slanted smile broke his normally stoic face. Miroku finally noticed just how cut up and bloody he was, as Sango’s eyes fell on an equally bloodied, and smirking Kagome. Blood trickled from both youkai’s mouths, and hairline in Sesshomaru’s case, both had deep cuts and gashes where clawed hands met with force, both held amusement in their eyes.
“And you always wondered why I never addressed you as ‘Lord,’ why when I am a Lady?” Standing slowly they both made to walk to one another, they yipped and barked at one another as they walked closer to one another. Kagome’s walk, Miroku couldn’t help but notice held an almost predatory grace, which had not gone unnoticed by the male taiyoukai. Kagome’s head snapped towards the direction camp was, barring her fangs she released half of her daunting aura, the jyaki itself was electric blue, it looked as though fire itself danced around her body, she looked feral and beautiful all the same. Sesshomaru had felt his brother coming near them, he could always feel his brother, being one of the few blood relatives he had left, his connection had been their since the hanyou was born.
Wondering why she was suddenly so annoyed, he saw why when he saw the red in his brother’s eyes, both their wounds were healed now but the scent of their blood mixed in the wind, had brought out the hanyou’s demon blood. Sesshomaru had to admit, the scent of her blood brought his beast to the surface as well, and fighting the urge to throw the onna down and have her now was very tempting. Kagome looked pissed beyond anything either the monk or slyer had ever seen, her fury was like a force of nature in her human form, they only wondered what it could be like now in her true form. “Don’t. Move. One. Step. Closer, Inuyasha.” stated Kagome’s all too cool voice as she took in the sight of the crimson eyed hanyou.
“My bitch will have to learn her place.” spat the hanyou, and then all hell broke loose as he lunged for her. The humans had to take cover as the two taiyoukai took on the bloodthirsty hanyou, in fits of snarls grunts, and growls, flashes of black, white and red, an almighty battle broke loose. It had been morning when Sesshomaru and Kagome had fought and now it was well past noon when one final feral growl was released, signifying the end of the battle. In the end, Inuyasha beast form or not had acknowledged both Kagome and Sesshomaru as alpha, whatever he might have wanted for was now Sesshomaru’s and Sesshomaru’s alone to have. Blood covered the clearing from one end to the other, Inuyasha looked like shit, Sesshomaru wasn’t looking his normal pristine self and even Kagome was sporting a few good gashes.
“Come.” was all he said to Kagome who followed without a word, as a proper bitch should, the mighty Western Lord lead his alpha female to the closest hot spring, “bathe” he ordered. Now normally Kagome would have gotten rather hot headed about being told to bathe in such a manner, let alone the fact that Sesshomaru was there, and looked as though he had no intention of leaving but that was the human Kagome that she showed everyone, the human that had modesty, where as the real Kagome had no such aversions. He watched her supple body as she lowered her clothing to the forest floor, and then her body as it was lowered into the heated pool itself, her body was perfect, he thought, wanting to take advantage of it, which truthfully he had every right to now.
She knew he was watching her, hell it was turning her beyond anything she had ever felt before, there was no embarrassment, but there was blush, oh yes there was blush. She was aroused, but what demoness wouldn’t be, Sesshomaru had just fought for her, and with her, literally making him her alpha male, at this point short of her father having any say, Sesshomaru could do with her what he pleased, it was pack law, protocol that as an heir and Lord of a large portion of land, they had to uphold.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
again let me know what you think, Yes, No, maybe?
Kagome sat there in the night passively with a slightly more stoic face then one she would normally produce as her cheerier self, it was her watch tonight and the fire blazed in a sleepy dance as it slowly began to die out leaving more embers then actual cracking fire. The light orange glow from the small campsite drifted out around them, their shadows casting out behind them, some small others large, Kagome looked around. It had to be about one in the morning judging by the high cast from the blinding crisp white moon. She sighed, “Its now or never…or at least not for a while.” Standing quietly, too quietly for a normal human, she focused on her companions, all of them breathing steady and slow, realizing they were indeed completely asleep, she crept out of the campsite until the fires edge of light and placed an invisible barrier around them.
Three years in the era had allowed her to become a very powerful miko, though she wasn’t a miko, she had made no vows of chastity, had sworn her life to no gods, at least none that her peers knew about. Looking back as she casually walked away from them, a small grin played at her face, she had done this on many occasions, it was a need, a lust to be herself, who was not who they got to see. The barrier, though invisible, gave them restful sleep, insuring that none would wake and find her missing, though Kirara had often stalked off after her, the only one immune to this trick, the small cat never gave her grief about it, in fact it seemed like their little secret. “Come on Kirara, I want to run and fly, want to come? Or would you prefer to stay here tonight?” she asked the small cat as it walked out of the barrier. The two tailed mewed and turned around to go back to her mistress, tonight she would stay with the humans, the kit and the hanyou, though it never bothered Kagome when she stayed, it reassured her a bit to know that not all were under the restful spell. Smiling back at the small cat Kagome said.
“Keep them safe if the worst comes. I’ll be back soon, I just have to stretch out.” she giggled a bit as she noticed Kirara stretching and yawning back into place with the slayer. Kagome began to run, as fast as she could in this form, finally about a mile away she removed the spell cast upon her. The magic too old to have a name poured over her, she stretched as her hair grew longer, her body grew more fit, and voluptuous in the right places, as her nails grew into small points, not quiet claws, but not just nails. She stretched more as her ears began to point at the tips and the color of her eyes began to swirl from a muddy deep blue to a vibrant, icy sky blue. Her body seemed to glow in the cast of the moon light, she loved this feeling, being natural, and yet it pained her to have to hide it. Not that she was allowed to show it off, no like all things here, she had a secret, she was an enigma.
To look at her now anyone would think or know that she was either a demon or a dark celestial maiden, her onyx hair hung just past her pert and round buttocks stopping mid thigh, her skin though a bit more sun kissed in this form was still bathed beautifully in the pale moon light, her eyes glowed and sang to the world that she was free if only for a moment. Too elated in the moment at the small bit of freedom she had claimed for herself, she hadn’t noticed the presence of Sesshomaru, he hadn’t had the chance to see her transform, but he really didn’t need to see it, he could smell it. He had followed the girl scent upon finding his brothers pack cast in a restful barrier, which only the two tails seemed to be immune from. The small fire cat had come from the barrier to greet him, long before the cat had realized that the great lord was no threat to this pack, except for the hanyou, and even then he no longer posed a threat for he no longer wanted Tetssaiga.
She mewed her greeting, and the crescent lord spoke, “Where is the girl?” he asked in his normally cool voice. To which Kirara gave him a hard look, knowing she could not know what he truly wanted, he said, “Her scent wonders from this place, and it is not safe tonight. She is the key to more then killing Naraku, and we would be hard pressed to wait another 500 years to destroy him.” he finished. Kirara was if nothing more a logical feline, knowing exactly what he meant, she had been one of the guardians of the Shikon jewel, along with Midoriko, sadly Kikyo, and now Kagome, even though she had also pleaded her allegiance to the huntress of her former mistresses village. She tilted her head in the direction that Kagome had gone. “Thank you.” he said before leaving the motley crew of sleeping warriors.
Walking with demonic speed, he felt the heavy change in aura’s, her light and spiritual aura vanishing into a heavy demonic aura like his own, figuring another powerful being had found the little miko he arrived just in time to see her stretching out her beautiful honeyed body. Luckily Kagome had the foresight to change into clothing of this era before leaving her group, when he found just the demoness, Sesshomaru for lack of another feelings was both shocked and annoyed.
He could scent a few things right from the start, one, she was both unmated and virginal, two, she was an inu demoness or at least she smelt like one, three, she was gorgeous and he wanted her. But then there was something wrong, he’d followed the scent of the little miko, his brother’s wench as he often referred to her, and the scent led him to the demoness before him. The miko’s heady scent of sakura, tea and moonflowers had always calmed him, delighted him and yet this female had a similar if not more pleasing scent, it was clean and smelled very similar but there was a mix in her scent, she smelled like a sea breeze on a cool morning, mixed in with the heady scents of the little miko.
Her back was turned to him but all too soon Kagome turned with lightening fast reflexes to see the Western lord staring at her, but the look of anger, indifference or annoyance she expected was gone, and only a calm blank stair with his lips being left slightly parted. She had to have been the most alluring, sexually eye pleasing demoness he had ever seen in all his many years living, he thought, as he took in her dark and uncommon beauty. He wondered if that was all she had to offer, just divine beauty, he wondered if she could hold a conversation, or if she knew when not to...to remain quiet, how to pour tea and serve her mate, he wondered many things seeing her for the first time, but never got to ask one thing of her. Kagome saw the male, Sesshomaru, surprise registered on her face, and did the only thing she could do, she ran.
Now as a human this would be a fool hardy thing, but as a demoness of the southern star clan, the ruling clan of the South, where the wind itself was subject to their will, running was indeed a good plan. It took not more then three seconds for her to turn, and plant a transformed paw to the ground, she took her most natural form, a great black furred inu, and to the skies she went, leaving him alone, aroused, perplexed and rather annoyed. Sesshomaru had gotten only a fleeting glance at her face, what he could make out was only her strikingly brilliant icy sky blue eyes, and the pale crest upon her forehead, “An heir to the Southern Star.” he murmured to himself, then to anyone else. He wanted to give chase, he wanted to take her to the ground and bed her for her visual breeding stock alone, but he had come for a reason, the human woman, the little miko. Scowling he went on to find her.
“Miko.” he stated more cold then he might normally, finding the very human Kagome sitting in a hot springs closer towards her camp site. “Why have you left the campsite, and the protection of my half-brother so late in the night?” he asked, eyeing daggers into the back of her head, as he watched her pour hot water over her arms from the small spring. Truly had she been the demoness, it would be so very perfect, he thought, here she is, in the most sexual way I have ever seen her and it is lost on me because she is human, he finished to himself. “Miko.” he intoned his displeasure at having to repeat himself.
“I am not deaf.” she said in a voice that intoned her own annoyance at having her night cut so utterly short. “Would you prefer that I yell at you without thought or provocation like your brother or would you prefer that I think through my answer before giving it. Because at the moment I do not wish to speak, I wish only to enjoy the night, and the heat of this water.” she answered surprising him. She looked so similar to the demoness he’d just seen, smelt nearly the same as well, but now in the clearing water of the hot springs they didn’t smell alike at all, he thought as he took a seat near the springs but far enough away to give her privacy.
“Why are you always so difficult?” he asked to himself more then anyone, but of coarse in this, Kagome heard, it was a whisper on the wind that gently caressed her ear like a lovers touch.
“I am difficult because I am worth it, and because I refuse to be ordered around by anyone.” she answered more to herself then anyone, but the words were heard by the other party at the hot springs, and surprised as he was he nearly chuckled at the defensive and always hot headed miko. “Sesshomaru?” she questioned aloud after some time. Which only received silence as a reply, but she knew he was listening. “Why did you come tonight of all nights?” she asked in a level headed tone. The lord got up from his rock at the other side of the hot springs and crotched down to the floor bed of the forest to look closer into her eyes to give his answer. Not really focusing on anything she still had her back to him, her long hair floating wildly about her on the waters surface, he said.
“Because even if that idiot doesn’t notice when you leave, and even if you can take care of yourself, myself, the slayer, the monk, and mostly Naraku, know that you are the key to his destruction. Even if you’d like nothing in the world then for me to vanish from this moment to leave you alone, I would not. For once a mere human is far more important then this Sesshomaru.” he finished as she finally turned to look at him, with strikingly brilliant icy sky blue eyes. His breath might have caught in his throat had he not been born Sesshomaru of the Western lands, but as he had been born himself, he only stared at the dark haired woman, some part awed and some parted annoyed. “Have you been here all night?” he asked knowing she could not lie to him without him noticing.
“I might have been.” she said knowing he could tell if it was a lie.
“Answer this Sesshomaru.” he ordered.
“That was an answer, it just might not be the one you want.” she said as she turned her eyes from him and went under the water. The angered male demon did not like this answer, he mentally kicked himself for speaking to her in the first place, but her eyes, her eyes were the same, spiraling with energy, and yet so very lively. She bathed in piece for the rest of the night, his back was turned when she got out of the spring, she knew very well, as a human she was nothing to him. But that was okay, according to her father that was how it was supposed to be, and if anything she would play the part correctly. She would help the hanyou, be supportive, complete the jewel again, and bring the Taishou brothers together in battle. To complete her task was the only way to save both males, and their pasts as it related to her future from the dark mutt that was Naraku.
She lead the way to the camp by smell, not that she said anything to him about it, and he followed keeping an eye on her, hearing her human nose sniff here and there, curiously though he chose not to ask what she was doing, for she would more then likely say it was just a cold, he was surprised when they walked up on her campsite. “Sesshomaru?” she asked turning back to him when she noticed his presence no longer following her. He stopped and only looked over his should to indicate that he was listening. Taking it as a sign of the positive she made her play. “Would you join us tomorrow, I’m sure Rin would like a playmate as would Shippo, and our odds of finding Naraku would greatly improve if you were around.” she said.
“Hmph. Do you think the half breed would stop yelling his fool head off if I were around? I do not wish to deal with him, or even smell him.” he stated coldly and began to walk off, but again stopped when she called him, why he might never know, something in him couldn’t help but stop when she called his name, he loved his name coming off her lips, and hated himself for loving it.
“Sesshomaru! Please, hear me out. I know your half- brother can be a hand full, by the gods I know that more then most, but I wish this infernal war was over, the sooner Naraku dies, the faster that can happen, the faster we call all go back to a more peaceful normal life. One where my son, and your Rin don’t have to worry about either of their parents dying just because we fight for a greater good.” she pleaded with him, and to that he turned around and advanced upon her, pinning her to a near by tree with his body.
“How dare you presume that I could die by the hands of such a filthy hanyou, let alone that I would want to even join your ragtag group.” he seethed coldly to her, but watched as no trace of fear assaulted her scent, and not tears came from her eyes, as always she had never been afraid of him, and he both hated and loved her for it, and in turn hated and both loved himself over it. Kagome’s heart rate remained its normal pace, her temperature the same, even calm reigned her body as she spoke her words gently knowing he would hear her through his heated brain.
“I presume nothing of you, more then the fact that you want what we all want, Naraku dead. And as for anything else, I assume Rin truly loves you, why else would such a lovely child follow one who could kill the whole world with his cold hatred of life beneath him.” He pressed her body harder for her words, and had she been a real human it might be painful, but as she was not, she felt no need to relent. “Your brother, would be my problem to deal with, and my ‘ragtag’ group as you call them, are more then enough to deal with Naraku, or have you forgotten that we are his usual targets not you and your fluffy ass.” she bit out at him clenching her jaws shut near his nose as though she might actually bite him. He hated her for these words, but he loved her for her defiance.
Turning with the grace of someone in his station, he threw her towards the ground and turned to walk away, never seeing that she did not fall to the ground but instead bounced off of it with an equal grace, leaping to the side and landing perfectly. He had waited for her cry of pain, and only turned back when it never came to see her walking into the barrier back to the others. “You have a secret, and I will find out what it is little miko, just wait and see.” he said as he continued back to where he’d left his dragon, ward and servant.
Morning came as always pale and calm, peaceful, she lifted the barrier just before dawn when she heard the hanyous steady breathing speed up showing her that he was awake. Really it wasn’t dawn just yet, more like the young light of morning, when the dark blanket of stars begins to vanished into the mewy pale colors of morning. Kagome like most demons needed little sleep, but in this form she needed at least an hour to survive the day. She knew Inuyasha would let her sleep, but she also knew she would hear no end of it when she woke up about how she could fall asleep when she was the watch for the night, about how she should have woken him up if she was tired. She wouldn’t care she never did, she wouldn’t start, but she would play the role as though she did, as she had, and as she would until she could finally have her life back, stupid jewel, she mentally muttered.
Kagome felt the world moving slowly around her, her kit had already freed himself from the sleeping bag, Miroku had already gotten slapped for touching, Sango was already cooking breakfast, and Inuyasha was already starting to grumble, she would have stayed asleep a little longer had Sesshomaru’s presence not tickled her senses. Rising out of what the others thought was a deep sleep she darted from the camp site to greet the ever stoic lord, and his companions. The others only half stared at her figuring as if it was a need to relieve herself early in the morning, when she walked back into camp with Rin on her hip, the small girl wrapped in a motherly embrace, followed by Sesshomaru, the kappa, and the dragon, it was a whole other story.
Inuyasha was already breathing in to release his aversion to his elder brother being there, when Kagome barely whispered, “Sit” causing him to plummet into the hard ground with a loud impact. Fighting the spell he was up faster then he usually was and already about to scream again when she laid Rin in her own sleeping bag, and murmured “sit” again forcing the hanyou back into the ground. Kagome took great pleasure in tucking a lose tendril of hair that had splayed across Rins face behind her ears when again Inuyasha was up and about to start his tirade, when Kagome glared icy daggers, spelling death to the hanyou if she should have to raise her voice. He knew that look all to well and pent his ears back grumbling to himself as she finished up with Rin. The whole scene, even down to the motherly way Kagome took care of Rin, to the fiery way she handled Inuyasha, had been noticed by Sesshomaru, if he hadn’t been born himself he would have laughed wholeheartedly, and pounced the female that had just tucked his daughter into bed.
“I invited Sesshomaru, Jaken, Rin, and…” she looked back at Sesshomaru for help.
“Au-Un.” he said noticing the pretty blush on her face as she looked back to her traveling companions.
“..To travel with us, in hopes that together we can find and overthrow Naraku. Its well known to all in this group that he hates each and everyone of us, and would like nothing more then our own deaths just as much as we long for his. I do hope that you all,” she said eyeing her group, “… will allow them to join us, it can never hurt to have another sword to champion evil.” she said watching both Sango and Miroku nod, followed by Shippo, and Jaken, turning to face Inuyasha she glowered. “Say what you have to say Inuyasha, but keep your voice down, if you wake that child you’ll pay dearly.” she said in a less then cheery Kagome fashion, catching most off guard, most… but not Sesshomaru.
“He ain’t comin’ with us, and that’s final.” growled Inuyasha, causing both Kagome’s and Sesshomaru’s eyes to flash in anger, and though he would have liked to have dealt with his baby brother on his own it was Kagome that beat him to the punch, moving faster then he thought a human should be able to she was to Inuyasha’s side, his dog ear in her tightly pressed grasp.
“Now you listen here, I’ve just about had it with this, Inuyasha, its been long three years, I’m tired, Sango’s tired, Miroku’s tired, Shippo, Jaken, Kirara and the dragon are tired, I’m sure even Lord Sesshomaru’s bored with this shit.” She bit out harshly to him in a tone so low none of the other humans could hear her, but all of the demons could. “I want to be done with this, and if your brother needs to be here to do then he will. I will remind you this now because you seem to have forgotten that this is not your pack, but mine, I asked you, Shippo, Miruku, Sango and Kirara to join me, Just as I asked Sesshomaru. So if this group belongs to anyone it is not you, it is me!” she said to him throwing him by the ear to the ground. Her eyes were cold, her face was annoyed, if she could be herself she’d have killed him, but she couldn’t and she wouldn’t so she played her part, his supportive wench, and right now he was giving her a lot of shit for it. But she had been right, and Inuyasha knew it, he feared Kagome when she was like this, an increasingly thing now-a-days. He figured that three years of this might make many people pissed off.
By now Kagome needed to walk away from him, she knew all too well that she would ‘sit’ him so deep into the ground that they would find a cavern if she looked at him any more this day. “SIT!” she said with so much energy, and throwing so much of her aura into it that the hanyou crashed into the ground far enough to bury the dead in. Her aura, had given away just a bit of her secret though, she hadn’t even realized it, but when she was angry like this, both her spiritual and demonic aura’s cracked together, against each other with force. Sesshomaru turned to the two adult humans, “Did you see that?” he asked, Miroku nodded while Sango replied.
“I felt it, just now when she got angry, was that a demonic aura?” She asked, to which Sesshomaru nodded before turning to follow the woman, while both Miroku and Sango followed. Jaken though stayed, he didn’t need to be asked, he didn’t want to go anywhere near that miko, he’d never admit it but she had to be the scariest human he’d ever seen in all his long years. It was fine to stay here the kit and the two tailed cat were gone with them leaving just the sleeping Rin, the two headed dragon, and the unconscious hanyou behind to watch over, if anything he seemed happy not to follow.
Kagome had stalked out of camp faster then a human should have been able to, by the gods she hated her human body, the spell to seal her demonic blood and jyaki, it was not complex or hard spell, for it only took one strong enough to weld to use it; It didn’t take much out of her to perform it, the spell simply left her far too emotional for her own liking, and even when she released it the spell still bound some of her powers because she was not mated. Sango and Miroku jumped in their skin at the low nearly feral growl that came from Kagome’s throat, her annoyed yet happy eyes once muddy blue became electric with angry icy silverfish blue, Kagome charged Sesshomaru in demonic speed. “You dare attack me?!?” she seethed. Sesshomaru had felt his brother coming near them, he could always feel his brother, being one of the few blood relatives he had left, his connection had been their since the hanyou was born.
Wondering why she was suddenly so annoyed, he saw why when he saw the red in his brother’s eyes, both their wounds were healed now but the scent of their blood mixed in the wind, had brought out the hanyou’s demon blood. Sesshomaru had to admit, the scent of her blood brought his beast to the surface as well, and fighting the urge to throw the onna down and have her now was very tempting. Kagome looked pissed beyond anything either the monk or slyer had ever seen, her fury was like a force of nature in her human form, they only wondered what it could be like now in her true form. “Don’t. Move. One. Step. Closer, Inuyasha.” stated Kagome’s all too cool voice as she took in the sight of the crimson eyed hanyou.
“My bitch will have to learn her place.” spat the hanyou, and then all hell broke loose as he lunged for her. The humans had to take cover as the two taiyoukai took on the bloodthirsty hanyou, in fits of snarls grunts, and growls, flashes of black, white and red, an almighty battle broke loose. It had been morning when Sesshomaru and Kagome had fought and now it was well past noon when one final feral growl was released, signifying the end of the battle. In the end, Inuyasha beast form or not had acknowledged both Kagome and Sesshomaru as alpha, whatever he might have wanted for was now Sesshomaru’s and Sesshomaru’s alone to have. Blood covered the clearing from one end to the other, Inuyasha looked like shit, Sesshomaru wasn’t looking his normal pristine self and even Kagome was sporting a few good gashes.
“Come.” was all he said to Kagome who followed without a word, as a proper bitch should, the mighty Western Lord lead his alpha female to the closest hot spring, “bathe” he ordered. Now normally Kagome would have gotten rather hot headed about being told to bathe in such a manner, let alone the fact that Sesshomaru was there, and looked as though he had no intention of leaving but that was the human Kagome that she showed everyone, the human that had modesty, where as the real Kagome had no such aversions. He watched her supple body as she lowered her clothing to the forest floor, and then her body as it was lowered into the heated pool itself, her body was perfect, he thought, wanting to take advantage of it, which truthfully he had every right to now.
She knew he was watching her, hell it was turning her beyond anything she had ever felt before, there was no embarrassment, but there was blush, oh yes there was blush. She was aroused, but what demoness wouldn’t be, Sesshomaru had just fought for her, and with her, literally making him her alpha male, at this point short of her father having any say, Sesshomaru could do with her what he pleased, it was pack law, protocol that as an heir and Lord of a large portion of land, they had to uphold.
Part1. The Scent and the Seal.
Sesshomaru had watched her for a long time, she was an enigma to him, at first glance he had thought her nothing more then a worthless human, when she refused to die by his poison in his fathers tomb he had though it a fluke, then she shot him with an arrow, forever earning the title enemy in his head for he had failed to kill her twice, not that his inner self agreed, no his inner self rather liked the fiery miko. His inner self’s admission to liking the female had him on edge and though he would hate to admit it even his conscious side tended to like her extravert tendencies. She was untrained as a miko, and though his half-brother could be heard constantly complaining about her weakness’ over time, he had seen and heard differently. This female was a selfless creature and always willing to allow the world to walk over her in order to make others happy. She was protective, and dangerous when threatened to extremes, he truly admired her for being a human, possibly one of the few to cross him and live to tell the story of it.
Kagome was her name, deep down his inner self had realized her potential and it was soon after that he had taken the ward, Rin. He knew perfectly well why he’d taken the girl child under his wing, a test to see if something so frail could bring him strength that his half-brother seemed to draw from the fiery woman. He had seen first hand how Kagome’s actions with his half-brother had given the whelp strength, and that above all he craved, though he had not anticipated the emotional challenges that came with having a human ‘pet’ so to speak, he had grown to love the female child in his own way, as she was a constant reminder of Her, Kagome. The strength he felt from being around the small child was proof enough to him that love was no weakness…not that he would show off this new found knowledge, no he would keep it to himself until the time was right, above all now he needed to figure out his intentions towards the human miko.
Her damned-able scent was the breaking point though, sakura, orange blossoms and tea were the foremost scents but lingering underneath it was the scent of moonflowers, a scent indicative of only inu youkai, even himself and Inuyasha smelled of it, under the stronger scents of male that were both his own and his half-brothers, moonflowers were what kept him awake thinking about her. The scent of a woman destined to be his enemy drove him crazy with want, he blamed both her and the half-breed for his lust for her, his brother because he had something coveted beyond what he once wanted of Tetssaiga, and her because she flaunted herself about, seemingly unknowingly in small flagrant clothing not fit for whores. But he was no fool, it had only taken a few trips following the travelers of his half-brothers pack to realize she was not of this time which explained her strong tongue, her unique knowledge of things only well educated should know, the lack of common knowledge that any human should in this time should have, it had proven to make her more understandable. She was a stranger to this time, he knew that, and yet she seemed suited here.
Vaguely he knew his inner self was to blame as well, her scent reminded him that a mate was necessary, that an heir was necessary, and more then anything he wanted that with her. Sesshomaru wanted to possess her, to take her, hide her and bury deep within her his seed, and yet that same thought repulsed him to the point of being near physical sickness. To have her in such a way would be dooming himself to follow in his fathers footsteps, and as much as he wanted her, he loathed the idea of such a fate, being so weak. Which brought him to his current position, waiting near her well, the portal to her home, that had also been a reason to follow her, everything about her was an enigma, she was as open as a book, and yet to understand her it was like reading a foreign language. The woman had been gone for a while now, the jewel was complete, Naraku dead, and killed by the very female herself nearly a year before.
He had found that she was usually away now-a-days finishing higher forms of education, yet another reason he could not stop the want he had for her, educated females were rare, and usually were only hime’s or miko’s, though she was a miko, her education boarded on that of a higher youkai‘s possibly more being from the future. She would be returning soon, he some how missed her, yet he was not known to be around her often, his presence had been growing, he often brought Rin to her and the huntress, as well as the old miko. His once young ward was growing with age and in need of some form of training, though the idea of another miko or youkai hunter was a bit annoying to him, he indulged the whim of his ward.
Sesshomaru knew more then anything that he would have to end this odd obsession he had with the miko, they were concluding the hunts for the last shards when she returned and he thought soon she would be leaving the past not to return again. As his luck would have it, Naraku in a last attempt to ruin the hunting parties lives, re-shattered the jewel, making another few years worth of work for his little miko and keeping her coming back. She had grown so much in three years, at first she’d been so small and scrawny, untrained, worthless, just another worthless human. Now though, near the age of eighteen, she had become far more shapely, her long legs longer, her sun kiss skin perfectly tanned all over, even her hair seemed to obey her wishes now as it had never before.
Sitting there near the well he became lost in thoughts, thoughts that would upset him later but the same thoughts drove him to follow this woman with everything he had. Little did the dreaming lord know that life for the little miko was not going according to plan. On her side of the well she was turning eighteen soon… within days, the age of an adult, barely graduating high school with a low B average, she had no plans for college just yet, with more reasons then just going back in forth in time, her mother had been sick for over a year now. No doctor could tell them what was wrong and after a while her mother refused to go altogether.
Sayuri Higurashi was a stubborn woman, she like her father before her had been born with high spiritual powers, she came from a long line of spiritual beings. The sickness that was suddenly claming her health had nothing to do with a sickness at all, years of surprising her daughters powers had begun to wear her thin. Before Kagome fell in the well it was easy, simply a matter of keeping the growing spiritual powers in check, and the demonic powers dormant. Sayuri had never planned in her life that Kagome would be pulled from this time into the well to the feudal era, and since having completed her miko training on the other side, her demonic powers had woken up and began to fight the suppression. Sayuri knew she could seal away the demonic powers for good, but that would doom Kagome to the life of a human, something she just was not, something that was not her destiny.
“Eighteen.” Sayuri said to herself more then anyone else, she remembered so many little moments when her daughter had done something cute, laying in her bed, she looked at the woman her daughter was becoming. Sighing she knew it was time to tell her the truth. “Kagome?” The young woman with hip length onyx hair looked at her mother.
“Yes momma?” she answered concerned for her mothers health.
“All your life you will be my daughter, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be. But there is something I have to tell you, it involved your fate in this world and maybe my own.” she said still calmed but pained seeing her daughters confused face. “Did you know there are other demons in this time Kagome?” came her peaceful voice. Her daughter shook her head ‘no.’ “Do you know why you can’t feel them and why they cant since the jewel shards you bring back with you?” again Kagome shook her head no. “Well I supposed I did a good job then. Kagome, you were not born from my body, though in my heart you will always be my daughter, we are of no relation.” Sayuri said, watching the play of emotions on her daughters face. Confusion was most evident, and yet understanding as well.
“I have to say for some time I’ve thought as much, I look nothing like either you or father, and my eyes… they’re blue, not brown, no one in our family has blue eyes.” Kagome said with a sad smile. “But Momma, it is okay if I still call you momma right?” she asked tentatively earning a slight smile from the woman she knew only as mother. “If your not my mother, then how do you know my birthday? And who are my parents? Why does this involve your fate as well?” she questioned hitting the ones on top of her head first. Sayuri sighed it was time she knew everything. Leaning up and opening the dresser draw of the nightstand she pulled out a well handled book, opening it to a page in the middle was an old piece of parchment paper and handed them to Kagome.
Picking it up Kagome read the letter aloud.
Miko Sayuri of the Land of the Southern Star,
I have seen both a holy miko, and a demonic seer and have come to the conclusion that I have no way to save my daughter but to abandon her to time, and allow her to fulfill her destiny. I have foreseen that she will be planted more then five hundred years from where I am now, and that she will be found by a young couple who long for a child. You will be foolish and hide her markings and her power, for that, I will forgive you for the love you will show her will know no bounds. She will grow too powerful though, and one day that power will consume your own, eventually causing your death.
For this I am sorry, I would hope that you allow her the choice to make, for I know your heart better then you might think, like myself you will do anything to save her hardship, though some cannot be helped. You must allow her to grow, she is not meant to stay, only to live for a time until she can return. I in trust you Sayuri and Kenshi Higurashi with my most precious treasure, the light of my life, and the hope for all our future, Lady Kagome of the Radiant Southern Star, heir to the southern lands.
Lord Shinosamu of the Southern Star
Kagome could hardly believe it, she looked at her mother as thought it were a joke, Sayuri though gave her a serious face and pulled the book the letter had been pressed in handing it to her daughter as well. Kagome looked over the pages, it was a book of mythology based on Japanese demons. Sighing she noticed it was almost in the middle of the story but the page was on a part about the southern lands, Kagome began to read aloud.
“The proud Inu youkai did the only thing he could to save his only child and heir, his daughter from the slaughter of the unrelenting panther and tiger demons of his lands who were lead by his own younger brother, once the Southern Star had been allied with the traitorous youkai, but those allies grew thin. It was said that his younger brother had received word that an heir had been born, and that the fates had hidden within her the sacred Shikon Jewel, lost to time years before when the priestess protecting it was killed by her hanyou lover. His only hope was abandoning her to time and the fates, he sealed the well of time, allowing no demons to pass through and died at the sight. Some said that a dark hanyou, or half breed demon, had instigated hatred among the demon villages in The Great Southern Star’s territory, others insisted that it was Shinosamu’s love of the human race that was his down fall, all of this is just ledged but part of the story was been validated. The well he supposedly dropped his infant daughter in and the same sight of his death, lays upon the Higurashi shrine grounds to this day, it is called the ‘Bone Eaters Well’ and is said to have the abilities to rid the world of whatever demonic reelect is placed within its walls, vanishing into thin air or a wash of blue light. Upon visiting the shrine, the care takers dismissed much of this story saying it was all folk lore, but that the well was there alone has given light to such a fabled story.” Kagome finished.
“But…” Kagome staggered. Reading it all in print and the hand written letter from her real father Shinosamu, that she was a demon? She wanted nothing more then to cry. Closing her eyes she shook her head willing this to be a lie, to be a dream. A cool hand founds its way to her lap causing the girl to look into tear filled eyes.
“Its your choice now Kagome, if you go, then no one will judge you, and maybe in time we might meet you again. If you stay, you will give up everything you were truly meant to have, everything I cannot give you, your birthright.” her mothers eyes began to glow, as did her hand, suddenly Kagome’s insides screamed at her to remove herself from the spiritual powers peaking from the frail woman. And yet her own spiritual powers cooed at the embrace, her body burned a bit, her cheeks and forehead hurt the most, along with a general ache of her whole body. Looking at the woman known only to her as mother, Kagome questioned.
“What’s happening.” she asked, her voice shaking.
“I’m releasing the seal I placed on you when I found you so many years ago.” she said smiling. “It will only be for a moment, so you can see what you should look like.” she said warmly. Kagome nodded and then stood to look in the full length mirror her mother had. Kagome’s jaw basically dropped. If at all possible her body seemed to become curvaceous, and womanly, taller if possible, her hair had grown long like ever demon she knew. She was beautiful, but it was not truly her. Looking at the mirror the spell began to fade and she turned back into her human form. Finding her words again Kagome asked the one question that would make the difference for her.
“If I stay this way, as a human, the seal you’ll place on me to do it, it will kill you won’t it? That’s why it involves your fate as well?” tears were already forming at her mothers eyes. “That’s what’s kept you sick this whole time hasn’t it?” her mother nodded. Looking downcast Kagome stood. “Then my choice is an easy one, allow me one day to tell my friends, and then release the spell, live your life well, I’ll see you again soon, thank you momma.” Kagome was already at the door when her mother stopped her dead in her tracks.
“KAGOME!” Kagome was crying by now.
“I’m sure momma, you’ve always been there for me when I needed you, now I’ll be there for you, release the spell 24 hours after I leave, and get well, if I’m a demon then I will see you again.” she said calmly, though on the inside she was in a panicky, she wouldn’t let her mother know she was so confused, that she didn’t want to leave. But Kagome knew her mother, for her to stay as she was here in this time, she would kill her mother slowly, to let the seal be broken in this time would cause unwanted attention, and then she had an uncle to deal with, and lands to see over. Duty and Honor called out to her like never before.
“Take these then, you might need them.“ she said giving her daughter the parchment and the book on demon history as a mythology. She was about to leave after grabbing the book and paper when her mother’s voice called again, “Kagome.“ the young woman looked at her mother, who held up a small pendent, she walked over to it as Sayuri held it to her. “This was with you when we found you, I fell its demonic spirit, but it is not evil, I think it was supposed to teach you, from your real father.“ Taking the pendent from her mother she placed it around her neck, Kagome smiled her winning smile and caused her mother to tear up as well. Walking from the room she went to pack the necessary objects and clothing pieces she would need to remain in the feudal era for good. Packing mostly panties, and bra’s Kagome also packed a toothbrush, and a few bars of soap. She didn’t know what she would do when she got to her real time, for the first time, in years she would be home, though it would not feel like it. Kagome heard her door open slowly, turning to see who it was, Kagome noticed both her grandfather and brother standing there, an unreadable look on both their faces.
“So she’s told you?” asked her grandfather.
“You knew also?” Kagome asked.
“I was the one who told her how, though I hadn’t had an idea why, then, I’m glad I helped them. I do love you, it will be hard for us all.” Said her grandfather.
“Just don’t make her sick again.” was all her brother said before leaving. Kagome wanted to cry but instead she pulled herself together and mustered a face of indifference she’d seen on Sesshomaru so many times before.
“I know this hurts but he’s worried, be the strong gi-- Woman, I know you are. Kagome, be careful.” she nodded her head as the man she knew only as ji-can who was about to leave.
“Ji-chan, make sure she releases the seal in 24 hours, I’ve asked her to do so, to save her, but we both know where I get my stubbornness from. Make her if you have to.” Kagome ordered before standing with her pack and making her way downstairs and to the well, looking back over her childhood home, in the dying light it was beautiful, she’d have to wait five hundred years to see it again, turning to go in the well she stopped when she heard her name being called out by her mother.
“Kagome! Wait!” she panted hard coming over to the well, both Ji-chan and Souta were out on the porch watching the exchange. “I know better then any that I can’t change your mind once its made up, but I want you to have this, tomorrow at sundown, I’ll release it, and here.” she handed her a large wrapped gift and a picture of her ‘father and mother’ as well as one with just her, Souta, Sayuri, and Ji-chan, one they’d taken the Christmas before.
“Thank you!” exclaimed Kagome, while throwing her arms around her mother. “I love you momma” she said turning and jumping right into the well. Sayuri fell to her knees the second the light faded, knowing she might never see Kagome again.
Part 2. An interesting turn of events.
Blue light brought the demon lord out of his thoughts, as he knew the girl in those thought had just returned. He could always feel her aura; it was horribly obvious that she was ridiculously powerful, and completely untrained. Her usual like pink aura leaked from her very being, having no control to stop it, he had witnessed either at his own expenses or in travel that she only seemed to dawn control when fits of emotions raged within her. Sesshomaru waited, usually it only took a moment for the bright yellow bag to be thrown from the well shaft, and then moments later the top of her raven head would grow like a sprout from its depths. Minutes seem to grow long as no yellow bag came forth, no head full of onyx tress appeared, he needed to find out why the most sorrowful aura he’d ever felt was coming from the well, surely it could not be the fiery female with the fast tongue.
Leaping from his hiding spot, Sesshomaru walked towards the well, the closer he got the stronger the aching sorrow filled the air with heavy melancholy. Peering down he could see that she sat at the bottom of the well, some bulging brown wrapped package of sorts along with her yellow bag, her body and shoulders visibly racking with her soundless sobs. He wondered what could have happened to leave her like this, he rather liked her when she was mad and fearless, this side of her he didn’t like at all, and it reflected the flaw in her, her humanity.
Kagome had felt him around them for longer then she could remember, his demonic aura lashing out reaching and brushing against her pure one, caressing her own aura with his. Sesshomaru brought his daughter to them, and would leave, but he never really go. Then there were times when he would just be around, not fighting with his brother, just there. He’d stay out of all of their ranges except hers. She sometimes wondered if he knew and was doing it on purpose, or if he had thought so little of her that she couldn’t feel his presence, either way she was tired from her emotional issues, tired from stress, and mostly she just wanted for a little while to be left alone to her thoughts.
Kagome also knew that all too soon, a red clad hanyou would be on his way, and right now she did not feel like dealing with him or his brother. Inuyasha was an emotionally challenged, he was like a horrible train wreck, fascinating, and yet a mess no matter how you looked at it. He hadn’t really been the same though, not since Kikyo die. Again, she thought. More often then not he was even more short tempered, often silent, and more or less always brooding.
Inuyasha had pushed her away, and Kagome had allowed it. She knew more then anything, at least at the time, that she wanted to be with Inuyasha, but as time wore on, she felt as though a weight had been lifted from her, and more and more, the love she felt for him was brotherly, more then that of a lover. Chasing her feelings away with a large sigh Kagome focused on the here and now. Here at the bottom of the well where her father had dropped her into time, and died trying to save her from a certain death from her power hungry uncle. She sat and waited; Kagome could feel him looking down, so without so much as tilting her head towards him she asked no louder then her normal speech, “What do you want Sesshomaru?”
To say that he was shocked would be an understatement, he had stalked up to the well without a sound, hid his presence, and his scent as well, not that she could smell him, no that little trick was for his brother. Looking down he gave a curt “Hn.” Before moving away from the well, taking this all in Kagome gave a small ‘Mona Lisa smiles’, neither happy nor upset, she tossed her yellow backpack up the well and over its lip, taking the parcel her mother had given her and placing it between her legs she pulled herself out.
Sesshomaru watched as the tattered yellow bag was thrown up, then moments later when he saw the delicate and creamy skin of her hand finding the lip of the ancient well, followed shortly there after but a stock of onyx tress. He watched she pulled herself up and over, tossing a long creamy tanned leg over as well followed by another, until she sat with legs crossed looking very sexy regal and sullen all at the same time, damn temptress, he thought. “Miko, why do you sit at the bottom of the well in such a way?” he asked. Her reply both started and amused him.
“Lord Sesshoumaru… Can I trust you?” she asked as she leveled a serious glare upon him. It really was something to ask, for her group and pack did consist of his half-brother, someone whom he considered an enemy, yet she was the natural enemy of Naraku as well, making her his ally, along with the fact that even if he didn’t want to acknowledge his half-brother, he was still pack, thus making her pack as well the alpha female, seeing as he had none of his own. Kagome watched as he pondered her question, placing blind trust one anyone was something Kagome’s large heart had always allowed her to do, and yet, she was asking for it openly from this demon, this honorable lord. He walked towards her and gentle caressed her jaw line bringing her down cast eyes to meet his own before saying.
“Have faith miko, you have nothing to fear from me.”
“And can I have your word that if I tell you my secrets you’ll keep them safe?” she said again leveling him with her gaze.
“I have no one with whom I would tell your secrets miko.” he answered and she smiled that small sad smile. Pulling her yellow pack to her lap she dove into it finding a book, that held a manillied piece or rice paper. Handing the book to him with her thumb on the page in which the rice paper was, she watched and waited for him to read about her history. She watched as he read the ‘myth’ of the long lost southern Lord, who had once been a great ally to the west. His eyes widened in the smallest fraction as he read about the infant pup, a pup that had been betrothed to himself when he was not much older then a pup.
Sesshomaru handed the book back while still holding the rice paper, “May I?” he asked, she nodded and averted her gaze from him, missing his reaction to her fathers letter. As she looked up she noticed his far away look, noting that he was seemingly deep in thought, about all he had read, she thought, not knowing that it had not been the only thin effecting him, if what she held was correct, then she was an inu youkai, and the lost heir to the southern lands that had never been found, not to mention that she and he were to have been mated on her three hundred and fiftieth year, which would be soon if he remembered correctly, he had been about 55 years old when she’d been born, he’d only seen her once before news had reached the western lands that the south had been attacked, the lord and his family killed and the infant missing. Her voice broke him from his thoughts.
“I’m not sure if you know, you seem to know everything, but I’m from right here, raised on these very grounds, five hundred years in the future. All my life I felt that something was wrong with the world, I remembered seeing normal people with tails, wings, fangs when I was small and out with my family, and then it just went away, I didn’t see those things anymore and I forgot. I didn’t think demons existed until I was pulled into this same well that still sits on my family’s grounds. I came here three years ago not of my own will and I had thought that it was my fate to free Inuyasha, protect the jewel and kill Naraku. It seemed I’m fated for much more.” she finished looking at him. “Did you know them? This Shinosamu?”
Thinking over what she had just offered him, Sesshomaru answered quietly, “He was one of my father’s greatest friends and allies, an Inu youkai who was strong, wise, and tactful. He and my father grew up together, they had hoped that with their heirs, they could forge an unbreakable alliance, they had hoped that we--.” Kagome was a smart girl though and had already figured out what he was saying.
“We were set as an arranged marriage?” she asked quietly not looking at him. He noted that her heart rate was calm, and she had no scent of fear upon her, it was something he had always loved about her. “My mother, the one that raised me, is a great miko. As my grandfather is a priest as well, my mother hid my jyaki and youkai, while my grandfather hid the jewels presence until my now human body built up enough reiatsu to shield it myself. Though by the time that occurred, my grandfathers powers were depleted if not gone, and my reiatsu is actually my mother’s having collected over many years of forcing it upon me. Its killing her because my jyaki is fighting back, I’ve asked her to remove her concealment as of sunset tomorrow, when I should revert back to my true form.” she finished looking up at him again.
Kagome could see he was still thinking when she began again. “I’m not above asking for help when I know I’ll need it. As far as I can remember I’ve never been a demon, I know no laws, rights or rituals, and as far as I can tell I’m going to have another fight on my hands the moment my uncle finds out about me, if he’s still even in power.” she sighed. “Lord Sesshomaru, will you help me?” She asked with determination shining in her eyes.
Sesshomaru wanted to possess her, to take her, hide her and bury deep within her his seed, and yet that same thought repulsed him to the point of being near physical sickness. To have her in such a way would be dooming himself to follow in his fathers footsteps, and as much as he wanted her, he loathed the idea of such a fate, being so weak. Which brought him to his current position, waiting near her well, the portal to her home, that had also been a reason to follow her, everything about her was an enigma, she was as open as a book, and yet to understand her it was like reading a foreign language. The woman had been gone for a while now, the jewel was complete, Naraku dead, and killed by the very female herself nearly a year before.
He had found that she was usually away now-a-days finishing higher forms of education, yet another reason he could not stop the want he had for her, educated females were rare, and usually were only hime’s or miko’s, though she was a miko, her education boarded on that of a higher youkai‘s possibly more being from the future. She would be returning soon, he some how missed her, yet he was not known to be around her often, his presence had been growing, he often brought Rin to her and the huntress, as well as the old miko. His once young ward was growing with age and in need of some form of training, though the idea of another miko or youkai hunter was a bit annoying to him, he indulged the whim of his ward.
Sesshomaru knew more then anything that he would have to end this odd obsession he had with the miko, they were concluding the hunts for the last shards when she returned and he thought soon she would be leaving the past not to return again. As his luck would have it, Naraku in a last attempt to ruin the hunting parties lives, re-shattered the jewel, making another few years worth of work for his little miko and keeping her coming back. She had grown so much in three years, at first she’d been so small and scrawny, untrained, worthless, just another worthless human. Now though, near the age of eighteen, she had become far more shapely, her long legs longer, her sun kiss skin perfectly tanned all over, even her hair seemed to obey her wishes now as it had never before.
Sitting there near the well he became lost in thoughts, thoughts that would upset him later but the same thoughts drove him to follow this woman with everything he had. Little did the dreaming lord know that life for the little miko was not going according to plan. On her side of the well she was turning eighteen soon… within days, the age of an adult, barely graduating high school with a low B average, she had no plans for college just yet, with more reasons then just going back in forth in time, her mother had been sick for over a year now. No doctor could tell them what was wrong and after a while her mother refused to go altogether.
Sayuri Higurashi was a stubborn woman, she like her father before her had been born with high spiritual powers, she came from a long line of spiritual beings. The sickness that was suddenly claming her health had nothing to do with a sickness at all, years of surprising her daughters powers had begun to wear her thin. Before Kagome fell in the well it was easy, simply a matter of keeping the growing spiritual powers in check, and the demonic powers dormant. Sayuri had never planned in her life that Kagome would be pulled from this time into the well to the feudal era, and since having completed her miko training on the other side, her demonic powers had woken up and began to fight the suppression. Sayuri knew she could seal away the demonic powers for good, but that would doom Kagome to the life of a human, something she just was not, something that was not her destiny.
“Eighteen.” Sayuri said to herself more then anyone else, she remembered so many little moments when her daughter had done something cute, laying in her bed, she looked at the woman her daughter was becoming. Sighing she knew it was time to tell her the truth. “Kagome?” The young woman with hip length onyx hair looked at her mother.
“Yes momma?” she answered concerned for her mothers health.
“All your life you will be my daughter, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be. But there is something I have to tell you, it involved your fate in this world and maybe my own.” she said still calmed but pained seeing her daughters confused face. “Did you know there are other demons in this time Kagome?” came her peaceful voice. Her daughter shook her head ‘no.’ “Do you know why you can’t feel them and why they cant since the jewel shards you bring back with you?” again Kagome shook her head no. “Well I supposed I did a good job then. Kagome, you were not born from my body, though in my heart you will always be my daughter, we are of no relation.” Sayuri said, watching the play of emotions on her daughters face. Confusion was most evident, and yet understanding as well.
“I have to say for some time I’ve thought as much, I look nothing like either you or father, and my eyes… they’re blue, not brown, no one in our family has blue eyes.” Kagome said with a sad smile. “But Momma, it is okay if I still call you momma right?” she asked tentatively earning a slight smile from the woman she knew only as mother. “If your not my mother, then how do you know my birthday? And who are my parents? Why does this involve your fate as well?” she questioned hitting the ones on top of her head first. Sayuri sighed it was time she knew everything. Leaning up and opening the dresser draw of the nightstand she pulled out a well handled book, opening it to a page in the middle was an old piece of parchment paper and handed them to Kagome.
Picking it up Kagome read the letter aloud.
Miko Sayuri of the Land of the Southern Star,
I have seen both a holy miko, and a demonic seer and have come to the conclusion that I have no way to save my daughter but to abandon her to time, and allow her to fulfill her destiny. I have foreseen that she will be planted more then five hundred years from where I am now, and that she will be found by a young couple who long for a child. You will be foolish and hide her markings and her power, for that, I will forgive you for the love you will show her will know no bounds. She will grow too powerful though, and one day that power will consume your own, eventually causing your death.
For this I am sorry, I would hope that you allow her the choice to make, for I know your heart better then you might think, like myself you will do anything to save her hardship, though some cannot be helped. You must allow her to grow, she is not meant to stay, only to live for a time until she can return. I in trust you Sayuri and Kenshi Higurashi with my most precious treasure, the light of my life, and the hope for all our future, Lady Kagome of the Radiant Southern Star, heir to the southern lands.
Lord Shinosamu of the Southern Star
Kagome could hardly believe it, she looked at her mother as thought it were a joke, Sayuri though gave her a serious face and pulled the book the letter had been pressed in handing it to her daughter as well. Kagome looked over the pages, it was a book of mythology based on Japanese demons. Sighing she noticed it was almost in the middle of the story but the page was on a part about the southern lands, Kagome began to read aloud.
“The proud Inu youkai did the only thing he could to save his only child and heir, his daughter from the slaughter of the unrelenting panther and tiger demons of his lands who were lead by his own younger brother, once the Southern Star had been allied with the traitorous youkai, but those allies grew thin. It was said that his younger brother had received word that an heir had been born, and that the fates had hidden within her the sacred Shikon Jewel, lost to time years before when the priestess protecting it was killed by her hanyou lover. His only hope was abandoning her to time and the fates, he sealed the well of time, allowing no demons to pass through and died at the sight. Some said that a dark hanyou, or half breed demon, had instigated hatred among the demon villages in The Great Southern Star’s territory, others insisted that it was Shinosamu’s love of the human race that was his down fall, all of this is just ledged but part of the story was been validated. The well he supposedly dropped his infant daughter in and the same sight of his death, lays upon the Higurashi shrine grounds to this day, it is called the ‘Bone Eaters Well’ and is said to have the abilities to rid the world of whatever demonic reelect is placed within its walls, vanishing into thin air or a wash of blue light. Upon visiting the shrine, the care takers dismissed much of this story saying it was all folk lore, but that the well was there alone has given light to such a fabled story.” Kagome finished.
“But…” Kagome staggered. Reading it all in print and the hand written letter from her real father Shinosamu, that she was a demon? She wanted nothing more then to cry. Closing her eyes she shook her head willing this to be a lie, to be a dream. A cool hand founds its way to her lap causing the girl to look into tear filled eyes.
“Its your choice now Kagome, if you go, then no one will judge you, and maybe in time we might meet you again. If you stay, you will give up everything you were truly meant to have, everything I cannot give you, your birthright.” her mothers eyes began to glow, as did her hand, suddenly Kagome’s insides screamed at her to remove herself from the spiritual powers peaking from the frail woman. And yet her own spiritual powers cooed at the embrace, her body burned a bit, her cheeks and forehead hurt the most, along with a general ache of her whole body. Looking at the woman known only to her as mother, Kagome questioned.
“What’s happening.” she asked, her voice shaking.
“I’m releasing the seal I placed on you when I found you so many years ago.” she said smiling. “It will only be for a moment, so you can see what you should look like.” she said warmly. Kagome nodded and then stood to look in the full length mirror her mother had. Kagome’s jaw basically dropped. If at all possible her body seemed to become curvaceous, and womanly, taller if possible, her hair had grown long like ever demon she knew. She was beautiful, but it was not truly her. Looking at the mirror the spell began to fade and she turned back into her human form. Finding her words again Kagome asked the one question that would make the difference for her.
“If I stay this way, as a human, the seal you’ll place on me to do it, it will kill you won’t it? That’s why it involves your fate as well?” tears were already forming at her mothers eyes. “That’s what’s kept you sick this whole time hasn’t it?” her mother nodded. Looking downcast Kagome stood. “Then my choice is an easy one, allow me one day to tell my friends, and then release the spell, live your life well, I’ll see you again soon, thank you momma.” Kagome was already at the door when her mother stopped her dead in her tracks.
“KAGOME!” Kagome was crying by now.
“I’m sure momma, you’ve always been there for me when I needed you, now I’ll be there for you, release the spell 24 hours after I leave, and get well, if I’m a demon then I will see you again.” she said calmly, though on the inside she was in a panicky, she wouldn’t let her mother know she was so confused, that she didn’t want to leave. But Kagome knew her mother, for her to stay as she was here in this time, she would kill her mother slowly, to let the seal be broken in this time would cause unwanted attention, and then she had an uncle to deal with, and lands to see over. Duty and Honor called out to her like never before.
“Take these then, you might need them.“ she said giving her daughter the parchment and the book on demon history as a mythology. She was about to leave after grabbing the book and paper when her mother’s voice called again, “Kagome.“ the young woman looked at her mother, who held up a small pendent, she walked over to it as Sayuri held it to her. “This was with you when we found you, I fell its demonic spirit, but it is not evil, I think it was supposed to teach you, from your real father.“ Taking the pendent from her mother she placed it around her neck, Kagome smiled her winning smile and caused her mother to tear up as well. Walking from the room she went to pack the necessary objects and clothing pieces she would need to remain in the feudal era for good. Packing mostly panties, and bra’s Kagome also packed a toothbrush, and a few bars of soap. She didn’t know what she would do when she got to her real time, for the first time, in years she would be home, though it would not feel like it. Kagome heard her door open slowly, turning to see who it was, Kagome noticed both her grandfather and brother standing there, an unreadable look on both their faces.
“So she’s told you?” asked her grandfather.
“You knew also?” Kagome asked.
“I was the one who told her how, though I hadn’t had an idea why, then, I’m glad I helped them. I do love you, it will be hard for us all.” Said her grandfather.
“Just don’t make her sick again.” was all her brother said before leaving. Kagome wanted to cry but instead she pulled herself together and mustered a face of indifference she’d seen on Sesshomaru so many times before.
“I know this hurts but he’s worried, be the strong gi-- Woman, I know you are. Kagome, be careful.” she nodded her head as the man she knew only as ji-can who was about to leave.
“Ji-chan, make sure she releases the seal in 24 hours, I’ve asked her to do so, to save her, but we both know where I get my stubbornness from. Make her if you have to.” Kagome ordered before standing with her pack and making her way downstairs and to the well, looking back over her childhood home, in the dying light it was beautiful, she’d have to wait five hundred years to see it again, turning to go in the well she stopped when she heard her name being called out by her mother.
“Kagome! Wait!” she panted hard coming over to the well, both Ji-chan and Souta were out on the porch watching the exchange. “I know better then any that I can’t change your mind once its made up, but I want you to have this, tomorrow at sundown, I’ll release it, and here.” she handed her a large wrapped gift and a picture of her ‘father and mother’ as well as one with just her, Souta, Sayuri, and Ji-chan, one they’d taken the Christmas before.
“Thank you!” exclaimed Kagome, while throwing her arms around her mother. “I love you momma” she said turning and jumping right into the well. Sayuri fell to her knees the second the light faded, knowing she might never see Kagome again.
Part 2. An interesting turn of events.
Blue light brought the demon lord out of his thoughts, as he knew the girl in those thought had just returned. He could always feel her aura; it was horribly obvious that she was ridiculously powerful, and completely untrained. Her usual like pink aura leaked from her very being, having no control to stop it, he had witnessed either at his own expenses or in travel that she only seemed to dawn control when fits of emotions raged within her. Sesshomaru waited, usually it only took a moment for the bright yellow bag to be thrown from the well shaft, and then moments later the top of her raven head would grow like a sprout from its depths. Minutes seem to grow long as no yellow bag came forth, no head full of onyx tress appeared, he needed to find out why the most sorrowful aura he’d ever felt was coming from the well, surely it could not be the fiery female with the fast tongue.
Leaping from his hiding spot, Sesshomaru walked towards the well, the closer he got the stronger the aching sorrow filled the air with heavy melancholy. Peering down he could see that she sat at the bottom of the well, some bulging brown wrapped package of sorts along with her yellow bag, her body and shoulders visibly racking with her soundless sobs. He wondered what could have happened to leave her like this, he rather liked her when she was mad and fearless, this side of her he didn’t like at all, and it reflected the flaw in her, her humanity.
Kagome had felt him around them for longer then she could remember, his demonic aura lashing out reaching and brushing against her pure one, caressing her own aura with his. Sesshomaru brought his daughter to them, and would leave, but he never really go. Then there were times when he would just be around, not fighting with his brother, just there. He’d stay out of all of their ranges except hers. She sometimes wondered if he knew and was doing it on purpose, or if he had thought so little of her that she couldn’t feel his presence, either way she was tired from her emotional issues, tired from stress, and mostly she just wanted for a little while to be left alone to her thoughts.
Kagome also knew that all too soon, a red clad hanyou would be on his way, and right now she did not feel like dealing with him or his brother. Inuyasha was an emotionally challenged, he was like a horrible train wreck, fascinating, and yet a mess no matter how you looked at it. He hadn’t really been the same though, not since Kikyo die. Again, she thought. More often then not he was even more short tempered, often silent, and more or less always brooding.
Inuyasha had pushed her away, and Kagome had allowed it. She knew more then anything, at least at the time, that she wanted to be with Inuyasha, but as time wore on, she felt as though a weight had been lifted from her, and more and more, the love she felt for him was brotherly, more then that of a lover. Chasing her feelings away with a large sigh Kagome focused on the here and now. Here at the bottom of the well where her father had dropped her into time, and died trying to save her from a certain death from her power hungry uncle. She sat and waited; Kagome could feel him looking down, so without so much as tilting her head towards him she asked no louder then her normal speech, “What do you want Sesshomaru?”
To say that he was shocked would be an understatement, he had stalked up to the well without a sound, hid his presence, and his scent as well, not that she could smell him, no that little trick was for his brother. Looking down he gave a curt “Hn.” Before moving away from the well, taking this all in Kagome gave a small ‘Mona Lisa smiles’, neither happy nor upset, she tossed her yellow backpack up the well and over its lip, taking the parcel her mother had given her and placing it between her legs she pulled herself out.
Sesshomaru watched as the tattered yellow bag was thrown up, then moments later when he saw the delicate and creamy skin of her hand finding the lip of the ancient well, followed shortly there after but a stock of onyx tress. He watched she pulled herself up and over, tossing a long creamy tanned leg over as well followed by another, until she sat with legs crossed looking very sexy regal and sullen all at the same time, damn temptress, he thought. “Miko, why do you sit at the bottom of the well in such a way?” he asked. Her reply both started and amused him.
“Lord Sesshoumaru… Can I trust you?” she asked as she leveled a serious glare upon him. It really was something to ask, for her group and pack did consist of his half-brother, someone whom he considered an enemy, yet she was the natural enemy of Naraku as well, making her his ally, along with the fact that even if he didn’t want to acknowledge his half-brother, he was still pack, thus making her pack as well the alpha female, seeing as he had none of his own. Kagome watched as he pondered her question, placing blind trust one anyone was something Kagome’s large heart had always allowed her to do, and yet, she was asking for it openly from this demon, this honorable lord. He walked towards her and gentle caressed her jaw line bringing her down cast eyes to meet his own before saying.
“Have faith miko, you have nothing to fear from me.”
“And can I have your word that if I tell you my secrets you’ll keep them safe?” she said again leveling him with her gaze.
“I have no one with whom I would tell your secrets miko.” he answered and she smiled that small sad smile. Pulling her yellow pack to her lap she dove into it finding a book, that held a manillied piece or rice paper. Handing the book to him with her thumb on the page in which the rice paper was, she watched and waited for him to read about her history. She watched as he read the ‘myth’ of the long lost southern Lord, who had once been a great ally to the west. His eyes widened in the smallest fraction as he read about the infant pup, a pup that had been betrothed to himself when he was not much older then a pup.
Sesshomaru handed the book back while still holding the rice paper, “May I?” he asked, she nodded and averted her gaze from him, missing his reaction to her fathers letter. As she looked up she noticed his far away look, noting that he was seemingly deep in thought, about all he had read, she thought, not knowing that it had not been the only thin effecting him, if what she held was correct, then she was an inu youkai, and the lost heir to the southern lands that had never been found, not to mention that she and he were to have been mated on her three hundred and fiftieth year, which would be soon if he remembered correctly, he had been about 55 years old when she’d been born, he’d only seen her once before news had reached the western lands that the south had been attacked, the lord and his family killed and the infant missing. Her voice broke him from his thoughts.
“I’m not sure if you know, you seem to know everything, but I’m from right here, raised on these very grounds, five hundred years in the future. All my life I felt that something was wrong with the world, I remembered seeing normal people with tails, wings, fangs when I was small and out with my family, and then it just went away, I didn’t see those things anymore and I forgot. I didn’t think demons existed until I was pulled into this same well that still sits on my family’s grounds. I came here three years ago not of my own will and I had thought that it was my fate to free Inuyasha, protect the jewel and kill Naraku. It seemed I’m fated for much more.” she finished looking at him. “Did you know them? This Shinosamu?”
Thinking over what she had just offered him, Sesshomaru answered quietly, “He was one of my father’s greatest friends and allies, an Inu youkai who was strong, wise, and tactful. He and my father grew up together, they had hoped that with their heirs, they could forge an unbreakable alliance, they had hoped that we--.” Kagome was a smart girl though and had already figured out what he was saying.
“We were set as an arranged marriage?” she asked quietly not looking at him. He noted that her heart rate was calm, and she had no scent of fear upon her, it was something he had always loved about her. “My mother, the one that raised me, is a great miko. As my grandfather is a priest as well, my mother hid my jyaki and youkai, while my grandfather hid the jewels presence until my now human body built up enough reiatsu to shield it myself. Though by the time that occurred, my grandfathers powers were depleted if not gone, and my reiatsu is actually my mother’s having collected over many years of forcing it upon me. Its killing her because my jyaki is fighting back, I’ve asked her to remove her concealment as of sunset tomorrow, when I should revert back to my true form.” she finished looking up at him again.
Kagome could see he was still thinking when she began again. “I’m not above asking for help when I know I’ll need it. As far as I can remember I’ve never been a demon, I know no laws, rights or rituals, and as far as I can tell I’m going to have another fight on my hands the moment my uncle finds out about me, if he’s still even in power.” she sighed. “Lord Sesshomaru, will you help me?” She asked with determination shining in her eyes.
